Wow. Just Wow. Didn’t know what to expect when my wife and I went there, but came away knowing we’ll be coming back (and have already told friends that live nearby they HAVE to go). We went in early (around 4ish) and got seated immediately. Claudia, our waitress, was fantastic and ran us thru all the things to know. We both played it safe for our first time and were really happy with the food quality! (Hint, we HATE tomatoes, but loved the Fried Green Tomatoes). The pulled pork mac n cheese was awesome and so was the shrimp and grits. My wife had a mojito as well and said it was one of the best she’s ever had. Price is really consistent with the quality of food you get. Highly recommend this restaurant, it’s a true gem and we’ll be going back many times more.

Made reservations for Valentines Day, which is also my husband’s birthday. We were both looking forward to a great meal. Sadly, it was everything but. We got seated in a timely manner. We ordered, knowing ahead of time what we wanted. We got our appetizer of fried green tomatoes, and then proceeded to wait almost an hour for our main course. Our waitress explained after an hour of ordering, that they messed up our order and never made it. Our waitress did apologize but NEVER OFFERED TO GIVE US A DISCOUNT AND/OR AT LEAST A DESSERT FOR WAITING SO LONG. Once the food came out, the brisket and baby back ribs were kinda dry. Sides were good. We also ordered 2 peach cobbler to go. Waitress brought our check, $103 plus tip. I had hoped for excellent food, & service for that price. Once we got home, I unpacked the peach cobbler, one of them didn’t even have PEACHES!!! TO SAY I’M VERY DISAPPOINTED is an understatement. I truly expected a better dining and food experience. I know it is Valentines Day, BUT that shouldn’t of mattered. I advise to try this place at your own risk. I pray you have a better experience than we did. Souled out soul food, you could do better.

The food at Souled out soul food was truly remarkable. I would encourage anyone who hasn’t been to give it a shot. While I only had the Mac and cheese, I’m eager to try the brisket next, and the Old Fashioned was served with a personal touch. I stopped in to just check it out and ended up staying for a drink. Looking forward to bringing family and friends here. This place rocks!! And I think they’ve only been open a year.

Outstanding!!! When it comes to soul food… they do it right!
While staying at our friend’s bed and breakfast, they suggested we eat there, which was located right down the street from their house. My wife and I appreciated the recommendation and drove over to eat dinner.
The building was nice, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. But the food was exceptional I had the pulled pork on mac and cheese. I had never had that combination before, but I made it work. The service was great and meeting the owners and their family was wonderful. Beautiful people making delicious food!
We are already an excuse to return to Flat Rock, Michigan, to experience this restaurant once again.

Idk who said the brisket wasn’t good but go try it yourself. TENDERNISM is what that brisket reminded me of. The Chef/Owner brought sauce to go with the brisket, I didn’t even need it. The juices were its own sauce. Mac n cheese and yams were INSANE. Catfish SO flavorful and crispy. Trio Soul Rolls is a must try. This place is very justified and i hope to see it in the long time coming. Thank you Miller and Blonnie for every thing you’ve done and making my day special for me on top of all that. Go experience for yourself. Love yall ❤️

First and foremost, everyone here was so kind and so friendly! Kendall our server was very sweet! I do suggest making a reservation as they do get quite busy. The parking situation is a bit tight with small lots on either side of the building and a gravel driveway in front. The food was great very fresh and hot! The smoked wings, beef brisket, grilled salmon and collard greens were by far my fave, those greens were chef’s kiss! The cornbread did seem and bit dry and the macaroni and cheese needed a little “ooompf” so to speak, but wasn’t bad. The banana pudding was a bread pudding consistency which wasn’t for me so much, but my friends really enjoyed it. But, will definitely return and enjoy more menu items and the building itself was gorgeous! Cheers!

Food was great. Bit of a wait to get food, but well worth it. Server was pleasant but wish she was a little more attentive. Would definitely return!

Best soul food Downriver, hands down. The baby back ribs, mac & cheese, and candied yams were all outstanding. The ribs were some of the best I have ever had prepared. The flavor, consistency, price were all great! I will be back soon and often.

Wanted to try something different downriver and found this little gem. I got the full rack of ribs and they didn’t disappoint. The mac complimented them well. I couldn’t get over how great the atmosphere was with the garage doors open and the view of the river. I’m excited to have a new spot to go on a Friday or Saturday and am sad I only recently learned about SOSFC because it would’ve been my go to spot over the summer.

This building sat empty for decades! It was a former water tower for the Ford Plant across the river.
This is located on the Huron River near the dam
There are two parts of the restaurant. The bar/ restaurant. Atmosphere is bright and rather loud. The other side, which is not air conditioned, has wooden beams on the ceiling, fans and beautifully overlooks the river.
We were so stuffed and didn’t even finish our meal!
Soul roll, Moe’s chicken with rice and beans, ribs and greens and fried green tomatoes.
Super nice owner and staff. They show great joy in what they do
