Mac and cheese had no cheese tasted like oodles noodles. Yams was mashed had no flavor Fr tasted straight like can ones no chunks. Chicken was decent the mango habanero was tasty and the lemon pepper was salty. Whereas the chicken wings and fries was amazing in the first ten minutes but the wings can’t sit they get soggy. Made my stomach hurt. Called the restaurant prior to get a resolution but Tina didn’t care. Honestly wouldn’t return.

This is my first dining experience with this business and I went to their Pentagon City Mall location. We live 15 minutes down the road. I ordered my grandmother the fried whiting fish with candied yams and cabbage. I got 8 wings (Caribbean jerk and mumbo sauce) with collards and corn. Two small pieces of cornbread automatically came with the meals. She got the regular sweet tea and I got the soul punch. All of this totaled to about $45. Our experience was disappointing to say the least.

I went inside the mall to place a to go order and the staff was very friendly. They were out of many sides, but I went around 4:30pm so I assumed they had a busy day, no problem. When looking at the menu, it was very diverse and looked great, but that was not the case after eating. My grandmother enjoyed her fish, but said she’s had better. All our sides were clearly canned and they attempted to spice them up. For a place that is supposed to specialize in wings, it was nothing to rave about. I had hoped the sauces would be better as well. The jerk sauce wasn’t even spicy and I have an average spice tolerance. Our food was room temperature and the cornbread was lukewarm. Tea and punch were good, but too sweet for our liking.

Needless to say, we unfortunately won’t be returning anytime soon. Price regardless, we were mainly disappointed that they were serving canned food as sides. We expected more from a soul food place. Maybe we’ll have to try out their Howard location and hope for better.

My daughter raved about this restaurant so we visited while in DC. Upon entering it was unbearably hot. They had a fan going but it was simply circulating hot air.

We placed our order and thank goodness we had cash because they weren’t accepting cards for payment due to a system issue. That was quite inconvenient and would’ve been good to know prior to ordering.

The food itself was hot and fresh. Our order was also accurate. It’s a little “hole in the wall” place which are most times the tastiest places to eat.

The restaurant is very small and you only have enough room to order and wait outside for it to be fulfilled. Needless to say there’s no seating or table service offered.

Overall, it’s a soul food restaurant with tasty menu items. It’s moderately priced. I’d return with my daughter because as a Howard college student she loves them and I feel really good about supporting a black owned business. Hopefully you’ll support them as well.

EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious! I have been talking about Soul Wingz ever since my wife and I went there. I was a little apprehensive because some “soul food” spots either over salt, or don’t season well. The food was perfectly balanced! Kudos to the cooks! The wings were comparably the best I’ve had in a long time…PERFECT!
Jeff was friendly, hospitable, and accommodating! Soul Wingz is now one of my top spots to get great food!

Tried Soul Wingz for the 1st time last night. The line was out the door 5 minutes after they opened, so I knew the chicken had to be good. I ordered the whole wings with the Soul flavor. The wings we super fresh, hot and tender. They were seasoned to perfection and nice and crispy. I’ve been on a quest to find great fried chicken in this city and last night Soul Wingz ended my quest!!! My son loved them too and he’s a picky eater. He asked me if we could go back next week. “Yup, we sure can!”

They’re literally never open, I’ve only been able to go here once as they’re always closed. I came here after getting off work expecting to get something to eat late night around 12 and they claim to close at 2am. Doors was locked they were already cleaning when I arrived. The food was good when I was able to go but that’s been one time out of the many I’ve attempted.

I came back here to delete my review after having a “better” (still had to wait 25 minutes for food but it was good) experience but because of the owners response I will be keeping it up and will no longer dine here in general. Howard students are your customer base so try to be more respectful.

Service is absolutely trash. The old guy running the truck is rude and acts like he can’t give a straight forward answer. I asked how long it would take to make the food because it was pretty late. His response was “we won’t know until you pay. We not thinking about your order until we pay”. Honestly, I wouldn’t order here if you expect half decent service.

Not giving a straightforward answer is far from the flex you think it is. A simple estimate would have sufficed, however, you were extremely rude. Don’t dare play the race card. Baby, I’m black and will do the same at any 4-wheel establishment when I have limited time. And if you’ve never heard anyone ask that question to anyone running an establishment of a different race, then clearly you live under a rock as I constantly hear others ask the same question. Black, blue, gray, purple, i don’t care. at 3:45 in the morning, yes I want to make sure I’m not waiting 45 minutes for food. I was polite to you the entire time and you chose to be a grumpy old man. Do better with your service and you’ll get more business. So again, TRASH SERVICE.

Do yourself a favor and skip this place. The sides have absolutely no flavor. Mac and cheese tastes like noodles with melted shredded cheese (no seasonings) and the sweet potatoes tasted like baby food. Puréed mess with absolutely no taste. We took a bite when we got in the car and immediately threw it away. I’m not sure who was cooking and thought that was okay to serve. Owner seems to have a bad attitude also by the looks of these reviews. Save your money!!! 🙂
