Awesome local spot that prioritizes giving back. We loved the opportunity to donate to the food pantry and pop a meal in the community fridge. Kana was also so helpful and even dug us up a phone charger since we left ours at home while traveling.

Lori Lee!!!! Wow just wow! The fact that we came 1.5 hours away just to try this gem of establishment should tell you something. We went in very nervous but she put that at ease, she explained the sauces and different cuts. She wasn’t over zealous she was just right. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience. FYI we absolutely have been traumatized with corn bread in the past but let me tell you by far the BEST ONE.

Awesome hidden gem ! We were visiting Evanston and were very hungry for some bbq, this place didn’t disappoint . I had the brisket sandwich and Mac n cheese. Brisket was tender and Smokey , absolutely loved it. Mac n cheese was creamy and cheesy in all the right ways! My husband had their jalapeno sausage dog and he loved it as well. Service was great , no problems at all.

Sadly, wasn’t impressed☹️. Ordered the sampler platter to try the meats & also ordered corn muffins. The muffins were moist – very good but the meats / nah, just bland. Had no flavor & I know BBQ. Of it all the brisket would be the best of what was on platter. Don’t get me wrong, meats were tender & juicy just lacking flavor. I got regular sauce & gold sauce – which was a bit too mustardy & not enough bbq flavor if that makes sense.

It’s pricey. I ordered chicken gumbo with added shrimp. See pic for size For this small bowl I was charged $22 dollars. Not sure if that is a fair price point for the quantity of food. I also ordered the black eyed peas. I was charged $6.00 for this small cup of beans. I’m sorry. This robbery to be charged these prices and the portions are extremely small. Don’t support this place. You’ll leave not full and will pay expensive prices for small portions. The problem with this place is portion sizes and prices. It’s better to just drive into the city to get more bang for your buck.

Bought Thanksgiving pulled turkey, brisket, Mac and cheese, and candied yams portion size said 2-3 people and no it’s more like one person. No heating directions for the Mac and cheese and candied yams. All the food came in plastic containers so how am I supposed to heat it? For the price and lack of customer service, it is not worth it.

We ordered out so service and atmosphere I can’t really rate. We got the pulled pork with original BBQ sauce, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and sweet potato. The pork was good. Tender and juicy. I enjoyed the sauce. It had a peppery tang to it that was pleasant. The collard greens were just ok. Not as vinegary as I like. The Mac and cheese was good. A creamy white cheese that I liked. The sweet potato was also just fine. It was good BBQ. Not the best but certainly not the worst I’ve ever had.
