The food is fantastic, however their sporadic hours are not. I have driven there on a Saturday for the past 3 weeks and the restaurant was closed, despite that online it indicated it was open – each time!!!
If someone is lucky enough to catch this restaurant when it IS open, I recommend the mac & cheese and turkey wings.

Baked Mac and cheese was good, just a little dry
Collard greens were on par with my mother in law’s(good), but the “Soul Sista” fan favorite sauce on the boneless chicken sorta tasted like leftover general tso chicken? Idk it was odd, overall okay experience.

Delicious food, friendly staff, large portions and reasonably priced. Recommend 100%. I’ve had the Jerk Chicken meal with sides of collard greens and potato salad. This dish also comes with rice, and a roll. They get pretty busy and it’s a small place, I’d suggest calling in your order for pick up if possible. I’ve noticed if you call within an hour of closing, they don’t seem to answer the phone for orders, but what I’ve read on social media, you can show up in person and place your order. This restaurant is a great addition to Asbury Park.

AMAZING food. Jerk chicken was seasoned perfectly and it was so tender it fell off the bone. The Mac and cheese, candied yams, rice and roll were also perfect. Not one thing bad about the dish. And the girls are so friendly !! Also if they have cakes that day definitely get some they were also delicious. You definitely have to try this place

Stopped in today with my sister, we both ordered the jerk chicken which was fall off the bone delicious, crisp and the perfect amount of heat. We tried the baked Mac & cheese, yams, and green beans for our side and they were all super flavorfull. Every part of the plate was made with love and you could taste it. The ladies running the place are super nice and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back to try more!

Called ahead got the whiting with collard greens and the candied yams and also a side of the baked Mac and cheese all of it was super fresh and amazing was asked if I wanted hot sauce and tarter sauce and hot sauce upon arrival. Great service as well was greet on the way in and they were very friendly. Nothing more to say food and service both great and the place was very clean inside definitely recommend this place.

Wow! Absolutely DELICIOUS! I’m from NC. I moved to NJ almost 1 year ago. I have tried numerous Soul Food Restaurants and today decided to try this one for the 1st time. This is BY FAR THE BEST SOUL FOOD I HAVE HAD IN NJ!!! This place is a hidden jewel! Everything was very flavorful and cooked just right. I had baked macaroni and cheese, macaroni tuna salad, candied yams, potato salad and collard greens! It was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!! The portion sizes were big! I have enough food for today and tomorrow. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Again, this place is a hidden jewel! It’s by far the best I have had in NJ and I’ve tried SEVERAL other places!!! I rate them a 5 out of 5! Definitely worth checking out!
