It’s been years since my last visit and we were in the area for lunch. Here we go! I ordered the fried chicken and my wife had the rotisserie chicken. Food was delicious as always. Sides tasted fresh. Had to order smothered pork chops and more fried chicken so we had dinner covered. Casual atmosphere with friendly service.

Me and my son came here for lunch/dinner. First time eating here, but my son has been here before. Let me tell you. OMG, they did their thing. The food was on point. I had smothered porkchop dinner and my son had a fish dinner. For dessert I has a slice of strawberry cake and my son had bread pudding. The food was flavored and seasoned just right. This was probably my last time spending my money here. Waited 1hr for my salmon and didn’t complain at all but then I had to order two more oxtail plates. Usually they fix the tray as you walk down the line, but they didn’t do that this time they asked me to pick my sides and everything with my original order and then gave me the wrong side. I drove 30 minutes back home assuming it was right. I tried to call and let them know what happened, but of course no one answers the phone. So basically I spent $80 to wait an hour and still not get what i ordered.

Waited in line to order a fried chicken breast meal. The service attendant said they were out of chicken breats.I said ill wait,she said I dont know if anymore will come out, I replied, ma’am, with all these people in line, about 30 at 2pm, yall not frying no more chicken breats? I was told about this place while visiting Jacksonville. I hadn’t had good ox tails in so long! I heard they had the best in town.. so of course I had to go find out!!
They did not disappoint!! I ordered the ox tails meal and the fried chicken meal because I couldn’t decide
And let me tell you.. it was all delicious!! The ox tails were so tender and tasted so good!! And the fried chicken was crispy and well seasoned!! The cornbread was on point, and those greens.. oooo-weee.. I’ll definitely be going back!!
If you love soul food like I do.. you should definitely go see these folks..❤️

I skipped over this place because of reviews please don’t do that … Food was a 8.5/10 Lines where long but overall nice,clean place bathrooms where clean you can tell the food was made with love

I admit I was a little reserved about the place. However, after getting our meals and sitting down and the smell was amazingly wonderful.
My husband had the catfish dinner…fried to perfection. With a nice flavor and taste that tickled you pallet. The field peas (black eyed peas) were spectacular and seasoned just right. The greens were also seasoned very well.
The shrimp dinner…the best ever!!!! The Mac-n- Cheese reminded me of that good ole Virginia style Mac-n-Cheese. The way it was molded together and flavored perfectly was simply grand. The yams had a balance of seasoning that complimented the sweet potato’s that were just tender enough to melt in your mouth.
I enjoyed the meal and we will be visiting this location again.
My compliments to the entire team for making a wonderfully made meal perfect..

The food use to be very on point. I drive all the way from another city an hour away an the food was awful this time I ordered the fried shrimp. It was overcooked and salty. I ordered my granddaughter the kids meal with the mac & cheese. It was horrible overcooked noodles and one of the workers attitude was terrible this time. Just the one everybody else was OK. I like it here because I eat vegetables don’t eat beef or pork and is usually good actually the last two times has been a miss.She seem like she didn’t wanna be there today. She was upset because I wanted fresh mac & cheese, and she was talking to other cooks about it like she had a problem with it she did it to myself & the customer behind me . So I guess I’ll back away for a while and try it again in about four or five months. I guess it’s a hit or miss.now!

I think this was the place mentioned in the Katt Williams sketch and if so… he is 100% right about this place. It’s amazing! It’s got a chill environment with friendly service and the chicken was seasoned well, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese had both great texture and taste as well. I don’t live on this side of JAX but I’m definitely gonna make it a regular thing to come here when I find myself west of the river!

It will be awhile before I go to this restaurant again. The girl that initially take your order needs an attitude adjustment. This is encountered every time I visit. ( I visit at least once a week). I am not paying my hard earned money to deal with her attitude.
