What an incredible mean and experience at sorn! We absolutely loved each dish and were blown away.
There were a few items that were on the spicy side but I wouldn’t say the entire menu was spicy so not sure what some reviewers are referring to. Also maybe avoid going to a southern Thai restaurant if you can’t handle a little bit of heat?

Overall, the service was great. The food very unique and delicious. The appetizers were all individually served and the “main” sharing style. The desserts were all amazing too, we left very full and satisfied.

I loved the food at Sorn, which was composed of ultra-local ingredients from mainly the south of Thailand, which is the focus of their kitchen. In contrast to other fine dining restaurants of this category, their focus is less on presentation but more on technique and on showcasing their precious ingredients with centuries-old recipes. Every dish we had (and it’s a LOT of food) was amazing. Be prepared to eat really spicy though. The spices they use are a bit unusual sometimes, so even a stomach used to common Thai spice levels could be surprised.

Highlights for me were the main dishes, especially the curries made from beef and local fish. It came with Thai Roti bread that was out of this world.

Two things that we didn’t like that much were the seating and the lack of an alcohol-free pairing. For the seating, we were given a side table in an almost windowless small alley on the way to the toilet (well, just next to the toilet, to be precise). The restaurant has several beautiful dining rooms – we’ve seen none of that and it really impacted our experience.

Also, in a restaurant of this accolade, we expected to be offered an alternative beverage pairing without alcohol – not only Coke and Fanta.

Truly amazing dinner at Sorn. Early courses highlight fresh seafood: river prawn with green mango, hand caught abalone with mangosteen, and crispy local fish scented with turmeric and curry paste. Raw and lightly cooked seafood as blue crab, lobster, and Babylon snail, moving fluidly between heat and freshness.

One of the most memorable dish is Crab Stick: the blue crab coated in chili paste and Mud Crab roe. Intensely spicy and deeply savory, it exemplifies the kitchen’s fearless approach to flavor. A fragrant coconut based soup follows, soothing the palate while maintaining depth and aroma.

The menu then pivots to vegetables and rice. A vibrant Southern Thai vegetable salad, mixed tableside, balances sweetness, crunch, and acidity.
The Southern Jasmine rice cooked in a clay pot served with an array of condiments designed to amplify or tame the heat. It’s paired with some dishes: redtail catfish with stinky bean and Southern curry paste, Thai omelet crowned with tiger prawn, and morning glory enriched with abalone liver, dried scallop and shrimp. The sequence peaks with spicy beef, southern green curry and roti , before easing into a softer finish with plum soup.

End of the meal with dessert, as longan sorbet and jelly with sticky rice, offering a refreshing counterpoint to the earlier spicy courses. Meanwhile, the wine pairings are thoughtfully chosen to elevate the dining experience. Highly recommended!

One of the most impressive Asian restaurants I have ever been to!

Sorn is truly exceptional in preserving the authenticity of traditional Thai cuisine while adding a subtle touch of modern creativity in the presentation. Each dish is a masterpiece with beautiful plating and mouth-watering flavors that perfectly balance the essence of Thai taste.

The team takes great care in selecting high-quality local ingredients and blends them harmoniously from one dish to the next. Every bite showcases the diversity and depth of Thailand’s culinary heritage, elevated to a fine-dining level without losing its soul.

I honestly cannot find enough words to praise them. The best I can say is that if you are a food lover, you simply must experience Sorn for yourself.

From the moment you step into the intimate heritage house setting, the experience feels personal and intentional. Every detail from the warm service to the storytelling reflects Sorn’s mission to preserve, elevate and honor Southern Thai cuisine using ingredients sourced directly from small producers across the region.

Sorn is not just the best three Michelin starred restaurant in Thailand. It is a cultural landmark. A meal here is unforgettable, meaningful and genuinely world class. If you want to understand why Thai cuisine deserves its place at the very top of global gastronomy Sorn is essential.

It’s good as it deserves the 3-star Michelin for the creativity, the use of premium ingredient, and the service. Most of the dishes are just probably too authentic, at least for me. Since it has pretty much the influence of southern Thai food, most of the dishes are extremely spicy. Request was made to drop the spicy level to the lowest possible, but still. Good rice though. It stands!

Sorn was a real disappointment.

From a food perspective, the dishes were good but ultimately not memorable. The flavours felt largely one-dimensional and, in my personal view, overly spicy to the point that it detracted from appreciating the nuances of the ingredients. Portion sizes were generous, but the sheer number of courses left us feeling uncomfortably full.

The greater let-down, however, was the service. It fell well short of what one would expect from a three Michelin star restaurant. Our waiter was inattentive throughout the evening — drinks were not topped up, the table was not cleaned between courses, and several dishes were removed before we had finished. There were also mistakes with our order and no apology for when they made an error. Furthermore, explanation of the dishes were flat and scripted without real knowledge of the dish when we asked further.

The most disappointing moment came at the end of the meal, when we were asked to wait outside the restaurant for our taxi because the restaurant was closing, despite it only being 10pm.

Overall, while the food was good, it lacked distinction, and the service was extremely poor. This is certainly not a restaurant worth making a special journey for, and I would recommend skipping it altogether.

Our dinner at Sorn was absolute perfection from start to finish. The menu is masterfully executed, with a heavy emphasis on incredibly fresh seafood. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness regarding dietary preferences; they check beforehand if you’re comfortable with raw seafood and offer excellent cooked alternatives that don’t compromise on quality. The ambiance is equally stunning, featuring lush tropical greenery that creates a serene, high-end atmosphere.

The food was excellent, but honestly I would expect more from a 3 starred. In all fairness, everything was cooked to perfection and the taste was on point. It’s rather spicy, so if you cannot handle spice, make sure you let them know early on. Service was good, not perfect though. I like the fact that they sanitise the loo every time someone uses it. However, the service was not in point yet, and the food, although very good, doesn’t feel like it’s “value for money”and have not had anything I felt like it’s new or “surprise, guess we are paying for the stars. Good place to try southern thai food.

Amazing Southern Thai Food

I’m Thai, but I was surprised to try so many new ingredients I’ve never had before. Everything was super fresh and full of flavor. Every dish was delicious, and I ended up eating way too much—in a good way!

The service was great. We went on a rainy day and took the BTS. They picked us up from Sukhumvit 26 close to BTS and even gave us towels and shawls to stay dry and warm. Really thoughtful!

The price is totally worth it for a 3-star Michelin meal.

The only downside was that the table next to us was a bit loud, so it was a bit hard to hear the staff explain the dishes. But overall, it was an amazing experience. Highly recommended!
