Sora Omakase was my first omakase experience ever and let me just say… it didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing and the freshest fish I’ve ever had. The fish is imported weekly from Japan and you can literally taste it. The chef was so passionate and knowledgeable on the dishes he was preparing, it elevated the atmosphere even further. The service was one of the best server experiences I’ve ever had and I work in the industry. Nicole was so kind and answered every question we had with ease. She had great knowledge on the Sake presented and even taught me know to take aesthetic photos of the dishes. I know it’s on the pricier side but it is so worth it. I went there to celebrate my anniversary and will 100% be going again. Thank you to the chef and Nicole!!:)

Excellent omakase experience thanks to Chef Yama. The pacing, knife work, and attention to detail were spot on, with a strong focus on the quality of the ingredients rather than showmanship. The atmosphere at the counter was comfortable and professional. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a genuine, well-executed omakase.

An exceptional omakase experience from start to finish. Each course was artfully prepared, showcasing the chef’s skill, balance, and creativity. The ingredients were impeccably fresh, and the presentation was stunning. Service was graceful and attentive, creating a seamless, elegant dining experience. Truly a memorable evening — worthy of every star.

My first omakase experience was phenomenal, an experience only outweighed by the service, staff (the Host, server and Chefs)
A magical dining experience filled with laughs. I can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I came here to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. “January 31st 2026 at 6pm Alex party of 2”The service throughout the evening was very good, and our server was especially kind, professional, and helpful when guiding us through the sake selections.

Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. Many of the dishes were overly salty, with what seemed like an excessive amount of soy sauce brushed over nearly everything. We were also hoping for more fresh-tasting fish, but most items were heavily torched with a flame, which masked the natural flavors.

The biggest issue that affected our experience was the atmosphere at the chef’s counter. The head chef was actively yelling at his secondary chef for much of the evening, which created a very uncomfortable and unsettling environment. It made it difficult for us to relax and enjoy what was supposed to be a special celebration.

Given the price point, we left feeling disappointed. In hindsight, we felt we might have enjoyed the evening more at a much simpler restaurant and saved a significant amount of money. That said, we do want to emphasize again that our server was excellent and very professional.

If possible to give ten stars, this would be the time. My husband and I had the pleasure of going to Sora last night for our 7 year wedding anniversary and were absolutely blown away. The staff was exceptional, and went above and beyond to acknowledge our anniversary (which was not expected!) – and Chef Yama was so wonderful to listen to as he prepared the meal. The food quality and creativity was OFF THE CHARTS. Highlights were the Shima Aji Tataki, Miso Hiramasa Soup, Sea Bream, Tuna, Branzino, Toro and Eel Don. The fish is flown in fresh to JFK every day, and the menu is curated based upon what is freshest and the creativity of the chef. We will absolutely be coming back with as many friends as can fit at the counter. Thank you to Chef Yama and the WONDERFUL staff for sharing their passion for food with us last night. Most memorable anniversary to date!

We have been here a few times, and can honestly say, we absolutely love this place. While we normally prefer sitting at tables for dinner so we can focus our conversation on each other, an Omakase experience sitting at the bar is entertainment in itself. The chef is engaging, funny, and provides a great explanation, along with the servers of what we are eating, piece by piece. I love watching the chef prepare each course, as it gives you more appreciation for the level of effort and amount of work going into it. The fish are so fresh and they should be, as they are flown in throughout the week from Japan (they even showed us a few of the tracking labels with JFK as its destination). Pretty neat. We opted for some add-on’s from the a la carte portion of the menu, and it was completely worth it. They recommended the Miyazaki A5 Wagyu and the Soradon, which we both ordered. The A5 Wagyu was amazing! Highly recommend it if you see it as an add-on. Overall, the meal was fantastic and would definitely recommend going if you enjoy Omakase. The chef here is from a famous Omakase restaurant in the city, and he brings that out here on Long Island. The price might seem a bit high for some (we paid just over $500 for two of us, which included the Omakase, the add-on’s, and 1 cocktail each), but in comparison to where he came from (at $950 per person), this is worth it.

Wow! This place is truly a fine dining experience without having to get dressed up. Only 12 counter seats available. Designated seating times. No ordering. Just a straight chef’s menu. No dipping of soy sauce or wasabi. They do it for you. We had the Uni with Ikura which cost extra. Such a friendly staff especially the floor manager. If you’re not a sushi fan, shell fish, raw, or not interested in Japanese cuisine, then this place is not for you. Reservations are mandatory. Online is best. Super expensive of course. Great for date night. Give this place a try when you’re ready to experience something special. We will definitely be going back.
