Soprano’s Italian Restaurant – Delight in Authentic Italian Cuisine in …
Reviews
I have been a loyal Sopranos customer for many years. I really want to support our local restaurants, especially with the announcement of new ownership. So I’m sharing this as honest feedback along with all the others reviews posted recently.
I ordered the chicken carbonara this evening and was told several items were unavailable (no shrimp, no salad, no deserts, and they were also out of proper to-go containers). The order took longer than expected, placed order at 6:34, left at 7:21. Once I prepared my plate the sauce was extremely salty and chicken very peppery (asked for lite pepper) , the bread was very hard, and the dish included abnormal large chunks of ham, which isn’t typical for carbonara. I was also charged full price despite the substitutions and missing items.
When I brought this to the chefs attention his main excuse for all this was the restaurant was closed For 12 days and the main chef was Not there. If you’re only excuse is that then why open and half ass things, People work hard for their money and to serve this thinking it’s acceptable is a quick way to lose business. Finished dish feeling left with a Funky taste in my mouth, and unfortunately not sure when I will be back.
There was a young family in the restaurant and the large screen TV was on with a violent show and profanity. The youngest little boy was sitting in a chair watching the movie like he was in a movie theater. The serving staff eventually turned the volume down, but it was still as loud as if I were sitting in my living room. This same child got up and walked from table to table moving the lights that sit on them and touched the tables. The wait staff seemed at a loss as to what to do about it so he just watched him.
I got the salad that is served with my meal and noticed immediately that it was spring mix instead of iceberg lettuce. The other times I’ve had the meal it was iceberg lettuce. When my lasagna came out it was hot on the outside and edges, but the center was just warm. It was layered differently than in the past and one layer of the ground meat wasn’t combined with sauce. I knew immediately that Chef Robin wasn’t the one who prepared my meal. She’s particular and prepares the lasagna differently. As I was paying the bill, I told my waiter to tell Chef Robin that I was there. The waiter told me she wasn’t there that night. As I said, I knew she wasn’t there because it would have been a totally different experience if she was.
When I paid, the person at the register told me the total was one thing and I paid with cash. The change was completely wrong, so I stared at the change while I was waiting for the extra. It was obvious that the person couldn’t make change. I told him that he owed me more money and helped him do the math. He said he couldn’t give me the correct change because the restaurant was nearly completely out of coins. I told him that I wasn’t worried about the coins but I did want the correct change and told he that if he didn’t know how to do the math then he should use the calculator on his phone every. single. time. Better than that, don’t run the register.
Yesterday, I had one of the best culinary experiences ever at a little spot in North Carolina (Randleman) that’s now my Michelin-star restaurant—perfect for a date night! The owner and chef, with her amazing personality, makes Soprano the place where you can really enjoy every bite of this incredible meals from the appetizer to the dessert.
