Reviews
I enjoyed chicken strips and chicken and dumpling soup for appetizer and the soprano meal with side salad and bread for dinner. My husband enjoyed the garlic knots and Italian burger sub with onion rings.
For dessert we had the chocolate fudge cake and carrot cake with coffee.
High stars all around. The food was hot and well presented with a generous portion.
The prices were great!
James was the chef and came out to check on us and greeted us and told us a little of his history and experience which just added to the meals enjoyment!
Most of the staff are very warm and welcoming. Great portions and food is served hot. Has outdoor dining area as well as run down/dated cozy inside.
Only downside to this place is the neighborhood behind it and the tiny giant convenience store next door. There are some rough people that will harass you at night and they tend to target women more. So use caution if going alone. Wish they’d just move the restaurant to a new place.
I payed $25 for a calzone and it was the smallest piece of garbage I had ever seen. It was mostly bread and I could have gotten so much more incredible food for that price somewhere else. I also ordered the cheese sticks appetizer and there was more food in the $8 cheese sticks bread than their was in my entire tiny calzone I received.
I only ordered from this restaurant because Vinny’s To Go was closed and I thought Sopranos would have had the same quality or better. You can buy a calzone 5 times the size for half the price and better ingredients at Vinny’s To Go. I wish I had just waited until Vinny’s To Go was open, I guess they are a really special place if this is what other Italian restaurants have to offer.
Do not order from this place, it’s truly a scam.
FOOD
I ordered the Chicken Alfredo and Veal Parmigiana. My friend cannot have fried food so I asked if they can make it without fried veal. Second clue not to eat here: waitress stated that fresh veal would be extra. The veal on the $15 veal parmigiana is frozen patties and fresh veal is extra charge.
Brought two salads that contained lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The lettuce and greens were crisp and cold. Unfortunately, so was the mushy tomatoes that had been cut and store in refrigerator. The tomatoes had some white liquid on some of them that was obviously something spilled on them from some other food in the refrigerator. I removed the tainted tomatoes and the rest of the salad was acceptable.
The Chicken Alfredo was some thick, lumpy liquid on top of pasta that had been previously prepared and partially heated. I took one bite of the Chicken Alfredo and that was all I could stomach without getting sick. The Alfredo sauce was not fresh and it the lumpiness was probably from reheating some sauce that had been in cold storage for who knows how long. I pushed the sauce aside hoping to at least eat a little of the pasta that did not have sauce on it. Again, the pasta was very stale and it was cold and warm in places. Not freshly made.
The veal parmigiana consisted of one very small piece of cheap cut of veal and was very tough. I had a hard time cutting it with the knife. There was very little sauce on it and the sauce was thick and also reheated.
I can’t say this was the worse meal I have ever eaten out, but I can’t remember another time when I had a meal this bad. The only reason they must still be in business is because of the Pizza. There were several people that came in to get Pizza or Subs to go when we were eating.
SERVICE:
After the waitress brought our meals, she did not come back one time to check on us. I had to go to the bar to get my tab and pay my bill.
Total bill was $40 with tip. You can get a decent quality Italian meal for two people for under $40 by avoiding this place.
