I am reluctant to share how great the food and service was. I feel we have found a hidden gem!! Had plans on going to Maria’s Saturday night however, the wait was too long when we got there. Seen Sofia steak house while out biking earlier in the day. We decided to give it a try. Wow! what a great decision we made!! The food was excellent! The stuffed mushrooms were made to perfection. I got the chicken dish and my husband got the steak. The portions were generous and the food was delicious! Apparently the owner hand selects each and every steak that he orders, picking out only the ones with the perfect freshness and marbling. He definitely knows what he’s doing!! The service was excellent too!!! The restaurant ambiance is very nice and private with a really cool history behind it! Be sure to ask your server about that!! A definite “must do” when you visit South Haven!!

Absolutely lack luster… We just waited 5 minutes to be seated. The waitress was not at all friendly she poured our water and informed us they didn’t have a kids menu printed so she could just tell us what they had. Mac cheese or chicken tenders. 10 minutes later she still hadn’t asked us what we wanted to even drink yet. Got up and left.

Went on Saturday the 26th of August was seated my husband order a drink and after 20 minutes of setting with no drink or checking on us to see if we were ready to order we got up and walked out….it wasn’t that busy and I seen a lot of people that seem to be waiting……and I’m sorry it unacceptable,if they were have staff problems all they had to say was hey we are shot handed I would have understood but nothing was said…so to hell with Sophies …..

A steakhouse should be able to properly temp a steak, but they do not. The restaurant smells super moldy/musty.

Definitely not worth the trip. The steaks were not cooked to order, baked potatoes tasted very earthy and while the waitress was pleasant she didn’t seem to know much about the menu. The menu itself was incomplete as the only thing it offered was food and alcohol. The hostess took her time to getting back to her area. We waited about 3 to 5 minutes before we were seated. There was a larger party in the back and one other couple by the entrance. It seemed like the staff was more interested in gathering by the bar closest to the kitchen and chatting.
