We stopped by Son’s Charburgers in Wagoner, Oklahoma to try a little hole-in-the-wall burger spot and ordered a bit of everything: corn nuggets, onion rings, a double cheeseburger, a 3-way chili, and a foot-long coney. The standout for me was the 3-way chili. It was my first time ever having it served that way — spaghetti noodles topped with brown beans, chili, and shredded cheese. It was definitely interesting and surprisingly good.

The rest of the food was mediocre at best. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really wowed us either. I usually rate mom-and-pop places on a 1–10 scale, and I’d give this one about a 4. It’s not the worst place I’ve eaten, but I wouldn’t make the drive back since I’ve got something closer to home that’s just as good, if not better.

stopped by to try the “charburgers”..well im not sure how the are called that because there is very little if any char flavor..frozen pre formed patties with very little flavor..fries sub par.. i was really hoping for better quality..its not a bad burger but i could be much better..there are better options in Wagoner if your just passing thru..burger 6 out of 10 for me..fries 3 out of 10..

I would not be surprised to find out that somewhere in the Oklahoma Historical Society archives, there is a picture of settlers in covered wagons parked in front of Son’s, eating hamburgers and fries. Onion rings had not been invented back then. You don’t need carbon dating to judge the age of the building. The design, the weathered wood trim and the faded discolored paint date the building somewhere between pre-Sonic era, possibly even pre-Dairy Queen. It had to be the hang out in Wagoner, in its day. It appears to be a family owned and operated business.
My wife and I have grabbed burgers here several times over the past ten years. Nothings has changed. The flame still flares up on the grill when the cook flips the burger, confirming the char flavor will be present as advertised. It is a one-man kitchen, so your order may take a few minutes if they are busy. Good charburgers and onion rings. Today my wife had a half order of 3-way. The chili is very mild, lots of cheese and fresh chopped onions decorated the big bowl of food.
Skip Sonic and McDonald’s. Have a home town Son’s Charburger instead.

Got a small double cheeseburger and small onion rings. Burger was fresh and tasted great. Veggies didn’t overpower the taste. Great charburger taste. Probably pre made Patty but great Flavor. Onion rings are great. Better than other places(sonic). Really nice lady at the counter and super skills. Takes orders from walk in counter, window orders x 2. Cleans tables. Brings out food. Probably more. Good attitude as well. I’ll eat here again when I’m cutting through Wagner

Absolutely in love with the 3 way spaghetti I get it 1 to 2 times a week! Only negatives are the entrance (sucks like all other wagoner roads) and sometimes the wait length. Other than that love it!

Used to love this place as a kid. Such good memories of quality food in the 90s. Stopped by last weekend and it has gone downhill today the least. They were out of ice cream for root beer floats for one thing, and we weren’t informed to after we ordered and sat down. One good thing I’d say is they still shred Velveeta on top of their open-face chili cheese burgers it would appear. I think I satisfied my memory of the place and won’t be back for a long while.
Oh yeah .. and there is still no restroom or place to wash your hands after 30 years! . You’d think they would have come up with a solution to that besides a little bottle of hand sanitizer at the counter.

I have been traveling miles to go to Sons since I was a kid. It was my father’s favorite and still one of mine. We literally took road trips just to go there and now I take my kids there.
