Friends have told me about this place for well over a year now. So me and and a friend decided to give it a try after an afternoon of doing some legwork in Fountain City.
It was early afternoon on a Tuesday, so there wasn’t many people there. However, we did get to chat with the owner and learn a little bit about this restaurant endeavor.
My friend and I got the Pub burger, we opted out on the chili, but wish I had got on the side…I have no idea if that’s an option but if not, it should be.
The burger was phenomenal. WAY better than Littons. Yeah I said it and stand by it. The fries were really good as well, but surprisingly the star of the platter was the cole slaw. It’s unlike any cole slaw I’ve ever tasted… and usually hate cole slaw.
We ordered a cookie type brownie with ice cream. It an actual name, however I don’t recall it. I’m not really a “sweets” fan, but my friend really enjoyed it.
The service was great. Very prompt and very efficient.
The atmosphere was a little dead when we went but apparently they have bands that play on weekends and trivia night, maybe. The ambiance was spot on.
In conclusion I will definitely go back. I look forward to trying the lunch specials and maybe even catching a band. I’m glad Fountain City has a real bar again, unlike that so called social club. I highly recommend and give it a 9.7 out of 10.

Sonny’s Original Southern Pub delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. The lighting was low and relaxing, the atmosphere was laid back and inviting, and the drinks were strong and well made, which set the tone for a great night. The food was flavorful, hearty, and served in generous portions that felt well worth the price, but the firecracker poppers were easily the star of the night. They were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of heat and flavor, making them an absolute standout on the menu. Customer service was truly top tier, easily some of the best I have ever received, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better. Overall, Sonny’s Original Southern Pub offers great food, an excellent atmosphere, strong drinks, and exceptional service, and I would definitely return.

HOLYYYYYY SMOKESSSS!!! THE FOOD AND SERVICE HERE IS TRULY AMAZING. THEY FRY THEIR HUGE CHICKEN TENDERS AND FRENCH FRIES IN BEEF TALLOW AND THE GERMAN STYLE SLAW IS AMAZING!!! I wanted some home style food but needed delivery. I ordered through my app (although I believe their website is cheaper) and I ordered the chicken & dumplins with okra and potatoes and let me tell you… I received my order in less than 50 minutes and the food was still warm when it arrived. The dumplins rivaled my grandmother’s…(I hadn’t had in nearly two decades so that was a MAJOR winner with the taste buds!) The potatoes were seasoned and “loaded” perfectly and the fried okra was so so good! I’m not a pub girl but I know food, especially southern food, and this place is DEFINITELY top notch!

My family and I love going to Sonny’s. We were there the other day and they were completely slammed. Momma De is always so nice and inviting! Melissa is our FAVORITE server we’ve had there. She was on top of it and didn’t act stressed at all. The chicken n dumplings were amazing. My husband loves their wings. Give them a try! You wont regret it!!

I hadn’t been in a while, and was immediately greeted with a soft smile and exceptional service from Odessa. She seemed to brighten the already easy going atmosphere. I visited with my daughter today 2/21/26.
We seated ourselves which was nice! We didn’t wait to long before our waitress came and greeted us. We had enough time to look over the menu. She was the Best waitress ever! She was super nice and friendly and was getting it all done! The food was ok. I had the Bologna sandwich. It Seemed a little over done, but it was good! The coleslaw is different, but in a good way. My daughter had the chicken tenders and they were really good! Good fries too! Atmosphere is great! We enjoyed it!

Had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and slaw. The slaw was the best I’ve ever had. The fries were crispy even after I let them set there and get cold. We also had one of their house beers called twigs and berries which was spectacular. Jaila is the best little server with a fun attitude. Will be back. This is a gem in fountain city.

We waited over an hour for 2 burgers. I asked for no onion and got onion on it. It was very cold inside. There was no pretzel, so we got the firecracker cheese bites. The food was typical bard food. Burger wasn’t juicy or flavorful. Fries were food .
