We were on a road trip from Vermont down to Florida and around dinner time in New Jersey, we were craving Indian food! We saw Sonny’s on the map, decided to head there, and we are SO HAPPY we did!! This restaurant is amazing! We have been to many different Indian restaurants all over the world, and Sonny’s is easily one of the best we’ve been to – even comparable to the best we’ve had in Bangkok, which is famous for having REALLY good Indian restaurants!! The man who owns this restaurant, Sonny (hence the name), is super nice and friendly, and definitely someone who deserves your business. Stop searching – head here!!

First time trying this place and it was amazing. As someone who like Indian food and has favorites this is being added. Right on the Chatham strip is Sonny’s. It’s a small place with few tables, definitely recommend getting a reservation it gets busy. Sonny himself walked around, got to know each customer, took the orders. 3% credit card fee.

There is a reason why Sonny’s has an almost perfect rating, it’s because they serve fabulous, made-right Indian food paired with a terrific experience. My wife lived in India for years and confirmed everything we tried on Saturday was made authentically and we both agreed it all tasted delicious. If high-quality delicious food isn’t enough to get you in the door, come to meet and speak with Sonny. As owner, he takes his role seriously to make sure everyone dining there is enjoying themselves, a role it feels like he was born to do. We had the mango coconut shrimp, raita, samosa chaat, butter chicken, lamb biryani, and garlic naan. Everything was outstanding. Everything. Sonny’s is deservedly very popular and so advance reservations are highly recommended. If you can’t get a reservation, do take-out. At least you can enjoy the food, you can always meet Sonny next time. This is a gem of a restaurant and I already can’t wait to go back.

I was in town for work and decided to stop at Sonny’s Indian Kitchen as I like to look for small family business – type of places to eat. I could honestly say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. It had a great family feeling to the atmosphere, the service was excellent as I asked for recommendations and they were perfect, as well as the food just being incredibly delicious and flavorful. The garlic naan that came with my meal was huge as well as delicious and the lamb cognac curry was magnificent. I HIGHLY recommend coming here if you want to enjoy some of the best Indian cuisine around.

Sonny’s is truly an experience! We walked in on a Friday evening with no reservation and were accommodated quickly. The owner Sonny, is very warm and friendly and ensured there was nothing amiss. Seeing that the kids were slow with their naan and rice, he asked them what they wanted and went over to the store next door to arrange for their favorite, fries! The food is excellent with aromatic flavors. We cannot wait to go back!

We love Indian food and have tried many places over the years in both NY and NJ. Hands down Sonny’s is the best place we have ever been. The food, the service and Sonny himself are the reasons you should run here. The quality is perfection and Sonny makes sure every customer is happy. His food is creative and fresh. My better half and I eating with Sonny at the table tonight. We asked him for something special and WOW!!! Great timing on our part, as some new dishes are coming soon! Sonny was kind enough to pair our special entrees with a great red wine. If I could give 6 stars I would, just outstanding, we were floored. Every time we come the food is so fresh and clean, atmosphere is great and Sonny is wonderful host.

Walked in by chance and we are glad we did. Met the nicest man(owner). Sunil was so sweet and pleasant, spent time and chatted with us..madebus feel like we jnew forever. The food..wow. It was so good. My favorite was the Coconut Mango Shrimp appetizer. We had Chicken Madras curry and Garlic Chili Naan for main course. Would definitely recommend to try this place.
