From the moment we walked in, we were very satisfied. The service was top-level and everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. Since it was our first time, the lady who took our order was incredibly friendly and took the time to explain everything—what to order and how it all works—which we really appreciated.
The food was amazing. From the cheesesteaks to the burgers, everything we ordered was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Honestly, anything less than 5 stars wouldn’t be fair.
Definitely, the next time we’re in Philly, Sonny’s Famous Cheesesteak & Burger Place will be a must-stop for us!

Sonny’s offers an authentic atmosphere of a typical American diner. The cheesesteak is really tasty, with very good sandwich and cheese, and the chips are exceptional, crunchy and tasty. Even the Angus hamburger has a surprising flesh. The service is good and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended

Excellent service, excellent food, and a great atmosphere. We got a Philly cheese steak with provolone, a fried chicken sandwich, regular fries, and cheese fries. Everything was great. They also have a good selection of condiments. This will sound strange, but the bathroom is one of the coolest bathrooms I’ve ever been in! Lots of Philly memorabilia on the walls.

We were looking for the best Philly Cheesesteak while in Philadelphia. I finally determined it is impossible. After consuming 3, they were so different from each other, I am not sure how you determine which is best or original etc.. However, I did really like this one. I got it with onions and Cooper Cheese. I thought the meat could have been seasoned just a little more, and include a little more cheese. I did eat the entire sandwich which was a first. The fries were also perfectly done. Price was very fair.

Only in Philly for one night and had to get the cheesesteak. Got it on a gluten free baguette. Cashier was courteous and helpful. Service was quick. Mine came piping hot as it was the first to come out in a slew of orders. It was delicious. With 18% tip it came to $25. Hit the spot though. The GF bun was decent so I can only imagine what it’s like on real bread.

Best cheesesteak I have ever eaten. Juicy flavorful meet, cheese was melted and yummy, mushrooms firm. And the bread was to die for. Almost couldn’t eat it all it was so large. We didn’t try the fries but the ones we saw on someone else’s plate looked really good. If I’m ever in Philadelphia again I will definitely be back.

Last visit approximately seven years ago. A companion had not experienced a Philly cheesesteak. Facility has not changed. We were the only customers at two in the afternoon. Plenty of seating indoors. Staff very friendly. Service quick. Sandwich very good but a little bit light on the meat. We did not ask for onions and miss having them. Two sandwiches, two cokes and two orders of fries $63.64.

I think Sonny’s is famous because they tell everyone it is ! When you’re running an old established and apparently iconic fast food store, it would be good if it was looked after and well managed. It didn’t help having the strong smell of ‘weed’ outside and a few stoned guys milling around.
Adrian, seemed to begrudgingly take my order with the absolute bare minimum of conversation, total lack of assistance and plenty of apathy!
It wasn’t busy, however, the store had full bins, stacked empty bread trays in the corner and dirty tables, the place did not give a hygienic appearance with its retro look !
The ‘famous’ cheese steak sandwich was nothing special although it did taste fresh.
Overall, a disappointing experience not to be repeated in my opinion and I would not take children there !!

Wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. I ordered two cheesesteaks with fries and some basic toppings, and was charged $50—completely overpriced. The menu didn’t match the price I was charged, and the staff offered no explanation or resolution. On top of that, the cheesesteak wasn’t any different from a chain like Charleys. Feels like false advertising and beyond overpriced – 10$ for some lettuce, tomatoes, and mushrooms…
Look at the billboard, it makes it seem like it’s only the marinara sauce that’s extra!
