I was pleasantly surprised by our experience here! When we walked in they said they were running behind and that food orders would be a 20+ min wait. We were seated, and the food order came out in no time! Our server was nice & patient. I tried the Sweet Carolina sandwich- it definitely hit the spot! Sonny’s certainly has a homey, all-American vibe. My only critique was that the table was a bit sticky when we sat down.

Every time we come here, we’ve had an item missing and have had to repeatedly request that things we ordered initially be brought to our table. But we’ve put up with it for years because the food was good and the people were at least nice about it. Yesterday, a half hour went by and we had received no drinks nor had our order taken. Every other table in our section was receiving to go drinks and getting taken care of while we had nothing. So, we got up and left, and took our business to Oakwood down the street, and was served really quickly. As much as I enjoy Sonny’s, we will not be returning to this location in the future, as the service is not where it needs to be for how expensive it’s gotten.

Me and my family have gone to Sonny’s.Since since the 70s, thanks to Saturdays, as it’s been a Florida staple for many years.This specific location has consistently been poorly managed and ran every time I come in for take out it takes 15 to 20 minutes for someone to come out from the kitchen so i can even pickup my order. I make it a habit too to check my food. Because consistently either an item is missing or wrong. Their online website has a smoked Caesar salad and the picture of said salad as chicken on it.This salad you would assume has chicken on it already considering the image.But it’s actually a four dollar upcharge. I waited 30 minutes in the take out area. I did my normal check and make sure all my all my items were there. I figured everything was fine.I saw the salad.I saw the other items and I had it home. Upon arriving home and taking a further look at the salad before eating.The salad doesn’t have the chicken that I saw in the image. The salad was graciously purchased for my brother, so he drove back over for me to go see if he could get the salad with the chicken.But the manager insists that it’s a four dollar up charge and he doesn’t care. The amount of times that i’ve gone to this restaurant and had issues is beyond me i don’t think I’ll be going back.

Sonny’s BBQ – Clermont, FL ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5 stars)
I visited the Clermont location around 6:30 PM today and ordered the Pick of the Pit Combo with St. Louis style BBQ ribs and sliced turkey with Macoroni and cheese and Bake beans as the side and Cornbread the drive-through.
The Good:
The service was outstanding! Aaron at the drive-through deserves major props for his patience as I navigated the menu for the first time. His friendly, helpful attitude really made the experience enjoyable and is honestly a big reason I’d consider coming back.
The macaroni and cheese was piping hot and delicious, small portion though not what i though i would get based of website but nonetheles – easily the star of my meal.
The Not-So-Good:
Unfortunately, the temperature of the rest of my food was disappointing. The sliced turkey was cold, the ribs were only lukewarm, and even the cornbread came out cold and stiff. It’s ironic that the side dish was the hottest thing on my plate. For BBQ, I expect everything to be served fresh and hot.
I was also surprised to find an upcharge for extra sauce on the ribs or if i want to add another rib as my second meat option – something I found a bit unusual. Also it a little longer to get my food but
The Verdict:
While Aaron’s excellent customer service might bring me back, the food temperature issues are hard to overlook. I’d probably return if I’m craving ribs and want the convenience of drive-through, but it wouldn’t be my regular go-to spot unless they can ensure the food comes out consistently hot.

I called in a detailed order at our Clermont location for 6 pounds of BBQ for an event I had to be at by 4pm. I called it in two days before because it was not letting me select a future date online. I placed it over the phone for a 2:30pm pick up time. The team at the pick up counter were very friendly however it was written all over their faces there was no order for me. They asked me what I ordered, rang it up and in tipped as usual. My food took 45 minutes to have ready and I was late to my event. It was good however I will never order take out in large quantities again. Nobody took accountability or apologized.

Sonny’s BBQ in Clermont consistently delivers delicious Southern barbecue with excellent service. The baby back ribs are always outstanding—tender, flavorful, and perfectly smoked. The corn nuggets are an absolute standout appetizer; they’re crispy, addictive, and truly “to die for.”
While most of the food is spot-on, the coleslaw can be a bit hit or miss in terms of consistency. That said, it’s a minor note in an otherwise great experience.

Sonny’s BBQ, thank you for a great dinner! We were greeted promptly, seated within about 5 minutes, and our order was taken shortly after being seated. Our server took great care of us! The manager was making rounds checking on patrons, a very nice touch.
As for the food, it was great! We had St Louis dry rubbed ribs. They were very meaty and cooked just right. I liked the mac and cheese. The green beans were also good.
It was a was a perfect meal for us.

I don’t sited I. The drive thru for about 45 mins one time and then tne next time it was 30 minutes. The food was cold and they did t give me the whole order. My kid wanted a pulled chicken sandwich and he took the orders for the items that they didn’t have. I asked my daughter if she wanted to sub it and she chose to sub with brisket. Well the manager came to the window and told me after sitting there for 15 minutes that it would be an up charge for the charge. I said that was fine… well they canceled my original order once I paid for it and then I had to pay again and wait on my refund to go back to my card. The up charge was $1.70!!!!! I could’ve gave him that but I paid over $50 twice!!!! Had to wait on my refund!!! That’s not the kicker…. The next time I went he charged me for the order that was in front of me and I had to wait AGAIN for the refund and pay for the order I placed!!! Needless to say I haven’t been back. The evening crew is the worst!!! Good food bad service!!! I don’t plan on going back!!!!

Arrived early to eat lunch and found the restaurant super empty. Before you know it our waiter Aaron made an appearance to get our order (only server working). Food came out nice and hot (even thought inside the restaurant it was freezing). All the tables around us suddenly filled up with customers. Aaron stayed on track and was very attentive. This location is always consistent with great food and customer satisfaction.
