I had just traveled 4 hours today. 2 hours for a trip going and 2 hours back. I just wanted to get a meal for my daughter and myself. They acted nice but took a long time so I was told to park and I walked in after waiting for so long. They didn’t give my daughter her fries and someone pushed the food on the bag so hard the juice spilled from the green beans into the bag. The top was cracked on the container. I’ll never eat there again. And to top it off in front of the store I smelling weed. I don’t know who owns this place but your workers are unprofessional and extremely nasty. It’s true the hearts of men have grown waxed cold.

Can’t comment on atmosphere as we got our food to go. The food was amazing and the service was great! Very friendly staff! After our first visit, we went back three more times in the first 8 days! The freshness, quality, and flavor of the food has been outstanding every time. The meats are all incredibly delicious. The staff has been friendly, welcoming, and hospitable every time. If we didn’t have our dog, we would dine in because the people are awesome. The girl who helped my husband bring our order to our car even stopped to give our dog attention!

I have lived here all my life and Sonny’s was our usual place to go, at least once a week. The last 2 times I have been there thru the drive thru it has been unusually slow, took almost 25 minutes and still forgot to put my fries in my order and the Meat was cold. They had way too much talking going on. They were not busy at all. The Manager needs to step up and get something done.

Always liked Sonny’s. The smell, professional, location, menu options, speed-all good. I have no complaints. I switch it up, & gotta get all the sauces lol. Thick Texas Toast has the perfect crisp edges and real butter taste along with a large helping of meat. Really can’t loose at Sonny’s. Appetizers always get me. I can eat all the options. I am especially fond of the fried corn bites. They hook me every time.

I usually crave barbecue on Sundays, and since Albany is home for me, I decided to stop by Sonny’s BBQ here for lunch. I’ve visited several Sonny’s locations during my travels and have consistently had great experiences. Unfortunately, that was not the case today.
The food came out quickly—but it was cold. Not lukewarm, not just “cooled off,” but noticeably cold. That alone was frustrating, but what made it worse was my server’s response when I brought it to her attention. She admitted she also thought the food was cold—even mentioning that the last plate she served felt the same—but she served it anyway. That’s unacceptable.
I didn’t get the quality or experience I’ve come to associate with Sonny’s. I left feeling like I wasted my time and money. Albany deserves better, and so do the customers. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses it, because this location is not meeting the standard of the brand.

My wife and I bought food for ourselves, and the experience was a bit of a let down. The outside flavor for the tenders was good in my wife’s 3 meat dish, but the inside was very chewy, almost like it was not chicken. My wife didn’t eat them. The ribs, coleslaw baked chicken and baked beans were good. However, the garlic bread appeared to be unfresh, and was tough to bite through. Additionally, the cornbread dessert was a rough spot. The bread itself also seemed unfresh. It was not moist at all and was nearly crumbly with translucent / pink strawberries, so those definitely were not fresh. The servers were nice, and the establishment was quaint. We want to say nicer things, like the French fries are good, and the cookies are okay.

Each year, our shop chooses a restaurant for our pre-Thanksgiving lunch. This year we chose Sonny’s BBQ for our take out meal. Sonny’s made us proud indeed. The order was exactly as placed, the food was ready as planned and everyone enjoyed their food. Thank you Sonny’s for making our shared meal a good one!
