I was with four other people that decided to visit here to celebrate a recent last minute event nearby. This was the groups choice and I, a veggie eater, went along with. The restaurant was pretty empty although it was a Friday night, surprising .
Our server was Val. She was prompt and courteous. Drinks were provided. We placed orders but since they were out of most items, my companions all had to order brisket or chicken, I ordered steamed broccoli and a baked potato. We noticed a dispute close by at the checkout counter by the entryway that was pretty obvious but tried to ignore and enjoy each other’s company. Val checked in on us before the food arrived, filled drinks.
Food arrived. After saying grace, time to dig in . I didn’t raise my fork because after viewing my , I noticed it was brown, it looked old. The baked potato wasn’t great but I ate some of it. Of the four others dining with me, one person fully enjoyed their meal and how it was prepared. Another said it wasn’t the best but ate all. One took a few bites but the brisket meat was mostly fat attached and the plate it was served on was dirty so they didn’t eat their chicken either. The last person complained of their meal as well.
Once Val checked in with us, I let her know that my broccoli was not edible and that I’d like it removed from my order. My companions showed the problems with their meals. She listened and apologized then took the food. I could see the manager (I believe the woman in baseball cap at the front counter was shift manager) laying into her . I could hear some of what was said and I believe she was in tears. Why reprimand an employee out in the open, idk…?? She didn’t cook the food. Your cooks and kitchen staff prepared what was the bottom-of-the-barrel whatever’s left over food, slapped it on plates for a sever to bring out to your guests. That woman returned, obviously stressed and trying to hold it together in front of us, with our checks. I could see she had been crying. She’s human!
Here’s another one of those “Never will I ever, ____” moments. Fill that in with, “eat at this establishment again!”

I love Sonny’s. Ever since they closed the one where I live we make a special trip almost an hour to eat here every couple of months. The sliced pork and the chicken are top of our list. I usually do the AUCE (which is not on the menu, just ask for it) as I know one portion is not going to be enough. And the corn nuggets are the best !! Highly recommend. Friendly Service, Great Food, Worth the Drive!

I stopped by here for a late lunch, party if 8. I could tell by the smell before I even walked in the door to the restaurant that I was going to enjoy this lunch. The Staff was very friendly and prompt. The table started with an order of the BBQ pork egg rolls. Honestly I could take them or leave them. I had the Candied Bacon Chicken Sandwich with Swiss cheese. The sandwich was light enough where I didn’t feel over stuffed and absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the bacon literally the best.

Wow, it’s been 15 to 20 years since I’ve been to a Sonny’s barbecue. When the kids were little, we used to come and get the four meat platter . It would feed the entire family for under $30.
Fast-forward to 2025, I got a full rack of baby back ribs, two sides, and a excellent amber draft beer for $27. I took half the ribs home for a second meal. Barbecue was very good and cooked two perfection! I forgot they offer four really good flavored sauces . I’m really glad to rediscover sonny’s, I will definitely be back soon.
Oh, I forgot to mention they added a full bar. They have a bunch of signature cocktails also.

Overall this was a complete surprise and blew away any expectations I had when I initially searched it up on google.
The building is literally in the walmart parking lot next to a busy intersection.
But once I walked inside they crushed the game. I was watching cars out the window go to some of the fast food places next door and was thinking, how big a mistake they were making not coming to sonny’s barbecue.
The service was fast, polite, and to the point, and my food came out in an unbelievably fast amount of time.
Blew my mind, I ordered. Like not even 5 minutes later I was eating some damn good bbq with Okra.
Bravo. Bravo. You won me over.
Go to Sonnys. You won’t be disappointed.

Yesterday I ordered the smoked wing appetizer from Sonny’s. It did not come out hot and it tasted old. I’m not used to this experience there. I did not eat it all. I hope this isn’t an indication of what to expect in the future. I’d not taken a bite of the wing below.

Had a great experience at the drive-thru on a weeknight. Texas toast was crispy and buttery, French fries were super fresh. Tons of flavorful pork in my sandwich. Pork can be a little dry without sauce and coleslaw on the sandwich but man, the flavors hit!
Iced tea comes in a nice large cup.
