So, I rolled into Vista Sonic, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I mean, where else can you pull up, stay in your car, and still feel like you’re getting five star treatment? The service was on point friendly, fast, and made me feel like I wasn’t just another number in their drive-thru matrix. And the food? Oh man, let’s talk about it.
First up, the chili cheese coney. It was fresh, piping hot, and straight up delicious. It’s like they knew exactly what I needed a glorious mess of chili and cheese that had me questioning my life choices but in the best possible way. Every bite was like a tiny hug for my taste buds.
Now, onto the rainbow slush . I was in for a wild ride with this one. The top? Sweet, magical, sugary bliss. The kind of sweetness that makes you think, “Yeah, life’s good.” Then you hit the bottom and bam! sour attack! Like, I didn’t know I signed up for a surprise flavor ambush, but there I was, riding the rainbow rollercoaster. Still, not gonna lie, I’d do it again because the overall journey? Pretty fun.
And you cannot forget the classics. The pretzel with cheese? It’s the food equivalent of wearing sweatpants..always comfortable, always right. That warm, doughy goodness paired with the cheese dip could fix pretty much any problem. And don’t even get me started on the Master Oreo Cheesecake Shake. It’s thick, creamy, and just loaded with Oreo goodness. It’s basically dessert in a cup, and I was not mad about it
I’m giving it four stars, though, because, you know, that slush mood swing at the bottom was a little too real. But hey, for fast service, great food, and a chili cheese coney that made my day? Vista Sonic, you’ve earned it ✌️

I’m from out of town and was alone. I went after sunset and the neighborhood was quiet and safe. People were walking their dog, kids were playing down the street with their parents nearby at another local business. I normally leave after receiving my order, but I felt safe enough to stay.

*Edit to previous 5 star review* Sonic changed their online hours so you can’t order online even within an hour of closing. I called and Ethan, the manager, took my order and said they’d have it ready within 5-10 minutes. I was happy the staff was willing to help since their online function was changed. However, when my husband got there, the manager Ethan had not helped prep our order as promised. They also informed my husband it was the last time they would assist us outside of drive thru hours. Very two-faced and mean staff. They must have changed since the last time we were here.

Food – I feel like i got the short end of the stick as I ordered the bottom but got the top drizzled with BBQ sauce. service- Seems like me ordering food was an inconvenience, which is why I don’t feel like bothering to address to staff, atmosphere – downtown vista vibe is always good and it’s sonic, classic drive in. Over all, food came out relatively quick for the amount. It seems like chicken products always seem pushed aside.

Unfortunately, our recent visit to the Sonic Drive-In in Vista, CA, was disappointing. The staff was slow to respond from the start, and our order was incorrect upon delivery. Additionally, the restroom keypad was locked, and staff initially refused to assist. Only after repeated requests did someone unlock the door from the inside, a simple task that required minimal effort but was met with resistance. When our food finally arrived, the portions (including the large fries and onion rings) appeared noticeably smaller than expected. Given the overall experience, we do not plan to return to this location.

THIS PLACE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!! First off the food tastes like garbage it tastes like a rubber and nut mixture. And on top of that the man taking my order decided to use the roller skates and roll the food out to my car. When he came out of the back area of the sonic I could already tell he was pretty shaky on the skates so I knew something was gonna go down. The man fell and spilled my drinks and meat rockets all over my interior I am absolutely pissed off and am ready for compensation as he has ruined the interior of my car. Even if I was starving I wouldn’t step foot into this establishment and I advise you not to either!!

Haven’t been to Sonic in years thought I’d try it out tonight. I ordered a #1 cheeseburger no onion with tots and a root beer. Burger came with onion and one bite had a hard griddle in it. Root beer was clear like the syrup was off needless to say can’t drink it. Also ordered a chili cheese coney. It’s looks pretty sad and the chili tasted burnt and old. I worked at Sonic when I was 14 in a small town in Kansas and I remember it tasting so much better then this. Disappointed 🙁
