To Sonic Corporate or Local Management,

I understand the importance of speed and efficiency, especially in a drive-thru setting. I respect the goal of quick service and the demands of fast food. What I can’t understand is the rudeness and lack of basic courtesy from employees toward someone who clearly hasn’t visited your store in a while and genuinely needed a little help understanding the menu.

It’s disheartening to be treated with impatience and attitude simply for asking questions. I’m a member of Generation X—part of a generation raised to work hard, respect others, and appreciate the opportunity to earn a living. I work in attics in the summer, repairing AC units. It’s not glamorous, but I’m proud of my work, my company, and the customers I serve. I strive for five-star reviews with every job, not because someone’s watching, but because it’s the right thing to do.

Lately, though, I’ve noticed a concerning trend among younger employees in many service jobs: a clear dislike for both their jobs and the customers they serve. I’m not sure where the disconnect happened, but I do know that treating people poorly, especially those who are just trying to order lunch, is not how you build loyalty or a strong team culture.

If employees are unhappy, that’s a management issue—but it shouldn’t become the customer’s burden. I would suggest implementing more digital ordering options to remove friction points for both customers and employees. It may also be time to rethink hiring and training strategies to ensure that your front-line team understands the importance of basic respect and hospitality.

On a positive note, I do want to commend the older lady with the back brace. She was kind, helpful, and the one bright spot during my visit.

Sincerely,
A Customer Who Still Believes in Hard Work and Good Manners

We actually pulled up about 15-20 minutes to closing without realizing. The lady on the intercom was extremely rude, she yelled out “Shut it down, shut it down now!!”, then proceeded to ask me what I wanted. Which she was rude again, what she should had done, was been polite and said she was out of everything and due to the shortage they would be closing. Instead we left with nothing but a bad experience. I wont be going back to this location, its the worst sonic around, I can guarantee it. I truly like sonic, but I will be choosing a new location!

Stopped at sonic in Owens Cross Rd , AL. First red flag I should have payed attention to was that they were only do drive-through or orders through the app. I was the second vehicle in the drive-through and waited for 10 minutes before I was able to pull up to the window. Got home to to start eating and my BLT barely had any bacon on it. Refer to the picture. Onion rings were hard as a rock and couldn’t be eaten. This is the worst food I have gotten from sonic!

Manager called the cops on us for sitting in the parking lot to eat our food not even 20 minutes after we ordered. Didn’t even ask us to leave first just all of a sudden there were cops banging on the car door.

I usually will not leave a negative review I try to look at the positive side of things and I have served in food and customer service so I can completely understand that things can happen but unfortunately I have to say my experience here today was very poor we pulled up at stall five at 2:20 pm and was asked to wait not very happily, so we did for about 3-4 minutes then we ordered two peanut butter shakes and one cheese cake shake after we sat there for 20 minutes a car pulled in beside us and ordered three drinks, four minutes later they get theirs at this point we still haven’t received ours but we wait… now we are one of only three cars here but we wait another minute or two and then decide maybe it got made and not brought out or forgotten or what have you… Things happen but we push the button to ask if maybe they lost our order the speaker comes on we here stuff but noone speaks we wait for another minute and decide they are literally not gonna answer us so we pull out and take our crying toddler to culver’s for a peanut butter shake and decide to go ahead and grab lunch too and after leaving Sonic Drive-Inn to my surprise we were so nicely greeted at Culver’s and WOW outstanding speed on our order and quality was exceptional everything was hot and fresh, we ordered at 3:03 Pm and had our food brought out to our table by 3:06 pm and it was great and believe it or not we got our baby that peanut butter shake and had quite a nice lunch so I guess all I can say is (Sonic) a restaurant is only as good as the District Manager that over looks the General Manager who over looks the rest of the Employees who serve this cute sweet community that is a up and coming place to be growing quickly, it could be a great place to stop in and have refreshing drinks and ice cream during hot summer days too, if the people who work there simply have some work ethic or maybe even could just acknowledge customers… So I have to say if I am busy or do not want to wait a long time I just can not stop here again that’s just to long of a time to wait…

Just do yourself a favor and avoid this place. never get the order right, food is often a mess and drive-thru experience makes you wonder if they should just close this and start over. i get it that service jobs have been hard since the pandemic but this is not even trying.

The burger had too much salt but I guess that could just be the south.
Put in an order for a double and a milkshake 17 minutes. No line in drive thru and 5 orders being picked up.

Service is generally slow when I come here, even when ordering via app.

Update: the blasts I ordered had barely any candy in them and what was there was basically dust. Over 2/3rds of it was plain ice cream and bland as can be. Definitely do not recommend, I’m getting a refund…

So, my 15yr old son had ordered a large Chili Cheese Tot (Sonic Drive-In -Hampton Cove) and when we get home and he takes it out it looks like this. It doesn’t matter what someone says, it seriously looks like someone took a bite out of it. Like, if you’re hungry at work, eat your own food. I have worked in the food industry and I know that you can eat and you get a discount also. I went back up there and they started by treating me like I made it up, then proceeded to say with an attitude ” And when was this exactly ?” Ugh, I’m sure anyone else would assume that someone had grabbed a big bite of it. They fixed it for us, but thats seriously nasty.
