I decided to give Sonic another chance after almost 10 years. The last time I ate at Sonic was around 2017 when the Scranton location near Scranton High School was still open, and I remember liking their Philly cheesesteak.
So I went to the Sonic near the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre and ordered the same nostalgic combo: Philly cheesesteak, tater tots, and mozzarella sticks.
The tater tots tasted like they were cooked sometime during the Obama administration — dry, hard, and not even crispy. The mozzarella sticks were also impressive in their own way: the cheese inside somehow managed to be both solid and chewy at the same time.
The only thing that saved the meal was the Philly cheesesteak. It’s still trashy fast food, but at least it tastes good.
Overall….not terrible, not great. Just classic Sonic.
Would I come back? Maybe… but probably in another 5 years when I forget this experience again.

Waited at a stall to eventually be told the stalls are closed and I had to go through the drive thru. Ordered 2 sundaes and a blast at 924pm. Didnt receive anything until 1002pm. I was given the wrong stuff. The lady who was working at night handed me the wrong order then disappeared. Waited for her to come back to the window to tell her the order was wrong. Got tired of waiting and left. The only highlight was my kids telling me every other terrible thing they would eat over coming to this place again on the drive home. Avoid at all costs.
Update: Added pictures. 1/3 things correct. I had to get home and transfer what was given to me in a bowl to see what was in it. The other two items had reeses in them. No oreos or brownies anywhere. Not even sure if the size of whatever blast I got was right either.

Food looks nothing like the pictures. I got a hot fudge shake, which looks like vanilla makes me think.There’s no hot fudge or chocolate in here. The double smash looks pretty pathetic as well.

“Manager” Kevin is the absolute worst. My boyfriend and I frequently come to this location (usually later in the day) and have never ever had an issue. But today we went through the drive thru and the guy taking our order was mumbling and the order was incredibly hard to place. Asked for a toffee coffee. He said there was no such thing. Get to the window to pay. He said payment didn’t go through. Put payment in again then checked and saw two charges. My boyfriend asked about the double charge and the guy said he didn’t know about the second charge he didn’t know why it was there so my boyfriend asked to speak to a manager since the man was clearly clueless on all fronts. He said he was the manager then said he would refuse to serve us if we continued to be upset with having no answer as to why HE charged us TWICE and the totals were different. I said clearly this Second order is legit because we have an actual receipt for it, so can you please make that he went and hid in the back as this wonderful woman made our food and brought it to us. But then she was unaware that we had a drink and she turned to him and said you didn’t get their drink? As he just stood there. I asked her if they still have the toffee coffee that I tried to order, but he told me they didn’t have. She said they did have it so she made it for me so it just goes to show that from start to finish this man does not know his job. He’s a whole manager, but can’t manage one singular thing. He can’t take an order. He can’t make an order. He can’t correctly take a payment or answer any questions. He isn’t even knowledgeable on what you guys are even selling in your store. All he can do is screw everything up and give attitude and hide. This man wasn’t even in a uniform. He had a leather jacket on and sunglasses.

No atmosphere, as it is a drive up and go home type of place. Ordering screens were being upgraded. Server answered my questions and was polite. Food was average. Great selection though, and good prices.

I called the complaint line. That was a complete waste of time. I was told some one would contact me never happened. Saturday night l was on line was handed a shake. It EXPLODED all over me and my passenger floor. I got to the windows. I asked the manager for a refund. It took her 3x to get that right. Completely incompetent. I asked her who was going to clean my car? I showed her the pictures. She was almost laughing at me. It cost me $42.00 to clean the rug and mat. Not only will l never go back. I will be giving negative reviews on every site l can. Lastly the B.S. customer service help line is in INDIA. They didn’t help me at all and lied about contacting me. I have over 50,000 followers. Guess where l will be telling them to boycott .SONIC IS A GIANT RIPOFF AND LIES TO ITS CUSTOMERS. NEVER GO TO SONIC.

The workers are lazy, unprofessional, slow, and can’t even handle working at a FAST food restaurant. Save your time and your money going anywhere else. The females working are especially lazy.

I DONT WANT TO EVEN GIVE 1 STAR
Worst experience ever. First when my order was being taken they were so rude. Then We ordered 2 supersonic bacon double burgers with no lettuce but added jalapeños and i was missing the second patty and the bacon on both and there were signs of lettuce and barely jalapeños i paid $1.58 extra for my jalapeños and there were about 8 total between the both burgers. Also my grilled cheese double burger was missing from my ordered asked them were it was and i was treated rudely. Also the bread was burnt when i took a bite. Never again i’d rather go to hazleton and get my Sonic food. They at least treat you with respect.

Can i give 0 stars to the service? They are awful. I ordered at 8:56pm. Waited 25 minutes and then hit the red button. At least 10 cars went through the drive thru while I sat there. The lady came on and said they were only doing drive thru. Serving in the order they came in. I was here long before most of those cars. They couldnt tell me that as soon as i ordered? The lady was very rude. Said shes a manager, gave so much attitude and yelled at me. She should be fired. You cant talk to customers like that. Makes me not want to go back. Then shes cleaning while handling food? Thats unsanitary. If shes the only one here like she claims, close the damn store. But the manager straight up lied as there was another person in there and they were talking crap to each other about us and others with the drive thru window wide open where us and other customers could hear it perfectly. They wouldnt give their names. The food tasted okay, but it was def sitting for a while. I used the chat to contact support. While they were helpful they tried to offer gift cards less than my order. No thanks. They did do a refund. Then they said they would pass the feedback to the store. What good is that? My complaint was about a manager there. If they pass that to the store she can just delete it. The feedback should go to a regional manager. Never going back.

Sonic is one of my favs for fast food and at this location staff is very friendly and quick. You can even eat outside at a cute picnic table.
