We got bamboozled by the positive reviews. Should have taken photos of the crab Rangoon as it was over cooked and there was filling missing in one of them. The soft shell crab wasn’t bad. The shrimp udon was 28 dollars and was not anything to really write about. The “Somo press” was as if they tried to combine the spirit of musubi. The problem with it is the ratio between fish and rice. The rice tasted fine but there must have been a fish shortage because it had as baffled at the amount they gave us (see pic). The sprinkled furikake was a cute idea but you’re paying for convenient store level food at higher price. My wife’s roll was a bit mushy but I digress. Give other places a try because this place was not it.

The food at this Japanese restaurant is overall average and not particularly impressive. I did enjoy their special rolls and the calamari dish, which stood out as the highlights of the meal. The service was decent, nothing exceptional but satisfactory.

Great sushi with solid prices! Definitely recommend the oysters and the Paradise (salmon), Carnival (lobster) rolls. And the owner and waitress were very friendly, which was especially nice as we were visiting from Boston.

I’ve never tried sushi before, and wow, I was so impressed! I’ve been missing out on so much fun my whole life. The sushi here is definitely a great start to my sushi journey! My favorite was the super sumo. I loved how crunchy and authentic it was. The staff is very friendly. Nino is so funny and caring for his customers. The server was very kind, always bringing water without even asking! I’ll definitely love to go there again!

Only a 5 minute walk from PPAC. Came here for a light sushi lunch before a matinee show. Food was delicious and service was excellent. I had the dragon roll. Highly recommend.

I had an amazing dining experience at Somo. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and Chris our server was friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional — we had the edamame, the spicy tuna pizza, grilled oysters and the Japanese style steak, it was ALL full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was quick, yet we never felt rushed. A perfect place for any occasion, and we will definitely be coming back!

WOW!
My first visit here and I will definitely be returning again! This is an amazing place for sushi! The great experience started as soon as I walked in and was greeted by the owner Nino or formally Elgheryany-San! We talked a little about our shared experiences living in Japan.
The sushi was some of the freshest I have had in a long long time! And the Firecracker roil was beyond awesome! It was so flavorful!
This place is a must visit for anyone in the area!!

As avid sushi lovers, we were very excited to try this new restaurant for our Valentine’s Day dinner plans. We started our meal with some crispy and flavorful crab rangoons with a sweet chili sauce and cocktails. The Mai Tai was a sweet balance of flavors without being too overpowering. I had the Somo Press and my significant other had the Carnival Roll. Both dishes were freshly made to order, had a clean presentation and left both of us satisfied without being overly stuffed.
The only thing that offset the experience was the service. We were greeted by the host and then sat at a high top. Needless to say, we chuckled because everytime we are seated at a high top, there are always napkins or drink coasters under the base to balance it.
As a seasoned server and bartender, I was slightly offset by the missed steps of service; from the lack of greeting with glasses of water to start, an explanation of the menu or personal recommendations and bussing the table between courses. All of the little details matter – if those steps are considered on a more consistent basis, then folks will feel less rushed and more welcomed to stay longer.
We will return in the future, thank you again!
