Went to Somerville on a Sunday night and had a mixed experience. The food saved the night, but the service was disappointing.

We had reservations and were seated at 8:45 pm. The reservation system made it seem like the restaurant was very busy since we were asked to wait at the bar, but once inside there were at least five to seven empty tables.

A gentleman who was not our waiter came by at 8:57 to ask for water orders, then never returned. Our actual waiter came over at 9:00, took our drink and food order, and brought my Coke quickly. After that, both staff members walked past our table multiple times without bringing water or checking in. I eventually had to call over a manager to ask for water, which we finally received at 9:07.

Another odd note, they were sold out of rolls when we ordered, even though a table seated after us received an order of rolls.

The bright spots were the jazz band and the food. The live music was excellent and set a great vibe. The kale salad with the puree at the bottom was delicious, and we also enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and short rib pasta.

I would consider coming back for the food and atmosphere, but the service needs improvement.

Beautiful, Beautiful location, ambience, vibes. Love jazz music. Decadent interior design. Food is delicious but I paid 40 for a rotisserie chicken and the next day, it tasted like ordinary bird. Brussel sprouts are delicious but at 19 to 20 dollars for a pint size, it is not something I will regularly buy.
Drinks were nice. Service was mixed. Our waiter seemed to say things with a tinge of resentment and or hostility. I am not sure. He lagged in areas like keeping our table clean and checking in. When you are paying over 50 a person, I expect service to be top notch. It wasnt. If I return, I will definitely get another server.
This is a spot you take people to impress them.

We had a beautiful date night here! The band was wonderful. We got seated around 6:15 and they were on by 6:30, absolutely beautiful sound. The ambiance is classy and intimate, sophisticated sexy vibes. Tiffany our serve was knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. The short rib was perfection and rolls were everything I hoped they’d be! Can’t wait to come back.

Smooth would be an understatement. Came for the Jazz brunch and wanted to stay til dinner. The food was delicious, drinks were excellent, staff friendly and chill – and the music! The interior design is a very cool mix of vintage and modern with great details. Makes you travel in time. What a jewel. If I lived in LA I’d come for the Jazz brunch every month.

I had an incredible experience at Somerville in Inglewood. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, modern, and perfectly curated. The kind of spot where you instantly feel both relaxed and impressed.

Harrison was attending my table and was outstanding…friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful in guiding me through the menu. I ended up ordering the chicken sliders & caviar, and let me tell you divine doesn’t even begin to cover it. Every bite was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

The drinks were top-notch, creative without being overdone, and matched the vibe of the restaurant perfectly. Between the service, the food, and the ambience, Somerville easily ranks among the best dining experiences I’ve had in Los Angeles. I’ll definitely be back.

Everything about my experience at Somerville was amazing, from beginnig to end. Our enthusiastic server Tiffany was a delight. This was our first time and Tiffany could speak to everything on the menu and made wonderful suggestions, from cocktails to the desert. Every dish was so tasty and the ambiance and Jazz band added to the experience.

I eat out enough to recognize something different. This is one of them.

Throwback to a old supper club. Love the interior design and also sets a nice vibe and energy. Very adult come nicely dressed and get absorbed into the music .
The food is very good and the Service was responsive and attentive. 5 stars For Yasmine. Totally exudes and showed what hospitality should be like fora establishment of this kind.
Over all cost for 2 couples $$$$.
The Sliders with caviar had a excellent taste profile. And main entrees are good size and plated well. Oh yes and Live music was just as important to the overall experience. Great seating and expect to pay for valet. But there is street parking available. Reservations are necessary.

This place hits ALL 5 senses: 1. The place looks fantastic. As soon as the host opened the door, you knew you weren’t off Slauson. 2 & 3. The food smells fantastic AND tastes GREAT. I believe whatever I ordered would taste great. 4. The LIVE music was fantastic. What I really loved was the musician with the Afro pic in his hair. 5. The silverware, cups, glasses, napkins, everything felt good to touch.

Pricey BUT worth it. Sometimes the prices are unnecessarily outrageous but it was adequately priced.

Imma try to find a reason to get to LA to go back there. Well done, Jo-Issa!

Visiting the area for work and a coworker made a reservation for 8pm pm Sunday for 6. We arrived on time and were seated after a few minutes. Reservations are recommended but there is a fee if you have to cancel. The hostess and doorman were pleasant and accommodating. The outside of the restaurant is unassuming and makes for a surprise once inside. Full bar, mood lighting and a jazz band add to the atmosphere. We ordered all food at one time and it was delivered in stages. We ordered the bass, pork chop, chicken sliders, broccoli, brussel sprouts, lasagna and the chicken and grits. The lasagna was so hot, we had to wait a few minutes to try it. Everything seemed to be at a pleasant temperature. All of the food was delicious and I would recommend anything we tried. The service wasn’t at the same level as the food. Our waitress seemed distracted or over scheduled. We asked several times for ice and drink refills and for some reason she couldn’t or wouldn’t split the check for us. A tip of 20% was included. The jazz music was enjoyable but was at a level that didn’t allow for comfortable table conversation. I think I would try it again just because the food was so good.

Yes, yes, and yes!!!!! My daughters took me to dinner here as an early Mothers Day gift, and it was definitely a treat! The atmosphere was “Jazzy”, the service was excellent and the drinks and food were delicious!!!! Issa Rae brought it home, and I love this for our community. 10/10!!!!!
There is valet parking, and you do need a reservation, as they are booked about a month out.
I recommend the Collard Green Lasagna. It was my favorite dish!
P.S.
This place is a great “date night” choice.❤️
