A low-key Thai restaurant in Warren, Som Jai Thai Cuisine offers a variety of traditional dishes in a quiet, no-frills setting. While the service and pricing are fair, our experience with the food quality on this visit fell short of expectations.
FOOD QUALITY
We ordered Panang Curry (initially with chicken, but had to switch to vegetables as the chicken didn’t taste fresh), along with fried rice, noodles, and soup. The soup was the highlight, but the rest lacked the flavor and freshness we expected—possibly due to visiting near closing time.
SERVICE & HOSPITALITY
The staff was friendly and responsive. They quickly accommodated our request to change the protein and ensured we were comfortable, even with the late dining hour.
VALUE FOR MONEY
The pricing was reasonable for the portion sizes. We appreciated that the veg substitution came without added cost, and nothing on the menu felt overpriced.

Simple and tidy interior with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s not fancy, but it’s clean and has subtle Thai decor touches.

Had the chicken pad Thai hot and it had great taste and the hotness was perfect. a good balance of hot but also flavorful hot as a additional flavor texture of the food. So good.

Prices are different than online. Was told “our prices always change” but they haven’t updated the online menu. Anyways I ordered sticky rice and Hmong sausage, I got home and tasted it and realized the sausage had a slight spoiled taste as if the meat maybe isn’t being stored properly or it’s just spoiled. I called asking to swap out my items because I see they say they don’t offer refunds, only to be told by the person on the phone that they just ate the same thing as me and it tasted fine to them. I told her that I eat Hmong sausage weekly and I’ve had it from different places, but theirs has a very off putting taste to the meat. She then kept repeating herself stating that she didn’t find anything wrong when she ate it, and that everyone’s sausage is made differently and theirs is fresh. I then asked if she makes them in house, to which she responded that they order their sausages. So I’m confused on how anything frozen can be absolutely fresh? I can tell where she was heading with the convo and the constant back and fourth argument she was trying to pursue by stating that I was wrong for tasting what I’m tasting. Anyways safe to say I’m his is my first and last time coming here. I’ve had to order food from somewhere else tonight instead. They do have signs that state they don’t offer refunds or swaps but I thought due to the sausage tasting old that they would allow me to bring it back and get something else, maybe that doesn’t have meat. They won’t and I promise they don’t care. NOTE: the sausage I recieved has a complete different color than the sausages in their pics, mines had a very grayish inside. The pepper dip sauce is pure salt it doesn’t have any other flavor profiles.

This was a very pleasant experience at Som Jai Thai in Warren! I visited the restaurant mid day Saturday and to my surprise it was very peaceful and quiet in the restaurant. The decor and soft music added to the great atmosphere! Som Jai Thai provided the best spring roll I’ve ever had! The Pad Thai was delicious I went for the medium spice level and it was just enough to have my nose running but not too hot that I was drinking three glasses of water! The waitress was very kind and stayed busy working up front while also promptly serving me as needed. I am providing a few photos of my experience to show how great the food and atmosphere was! Thank you Som Jai Thai for this awesome experience I’ll definitely be back!

I love this place so much. My girlfriend and I order here often and have been going here for at least 2 years. Unfortunately we will be moving out of the area soon and I am genuinely so sad that I won’t be able to get my favorite Thai food as much. The family that owns this place is so sweet and kind and boy do they know how to cook. The food is extraordinary. I love the Rangoons, the pork belly, the tom yum soup, and of course the pad Thai. Really a wonderful gem of a restaurant. Thank you for the years of good food ❤️

Love the flavor and portion size. Service is too notch and they cares their customer. Every time wonderful experience. This is true hidden gem.

Authentic Thai food. I ordered the tom yum soup and spring roll appetizers. Main entree was pad ka prow. This is the ONLY place who makes pad ka prow the right way % authentic. Best I’ve had outside of Bangkok!

My husband and I were craving Thai, the other night. We usually only frequent one particular restaurant around the area, so we decided to try something new. I’ll tell you what, I’m glad we did! We started with hot & sour soup, Tom Yum, and moved into the entrées…
I had the chicken Garlic Delight with an iced Thai Coffee, and the other half ordered the Pad Thai.
Everything was delicious!!! The menu has a lot of choices, so I can’t wait to try something new.
The service was very nice, too (very attentive)!

Every time I walk into this place, I’m so happy to make an order. If I have questions, they’re very informative and eager to inform you about their cuisine.
I encourage you to try the coconut cream drink, it’s fun and delicious!! The mango and sticky rice comes with a sweet coconut cream, which will fill your mouth with a warm feeling each bite. If you don’t like spice, I encourage you to keep it low.
If you’re one that loves spice, kick it to the next notch! The green curry is out of this world delicious The time yum soup add some spice and pow! Excitement in your mouth! When walking in, your greeted with a warm welcome. This place is a hidden gem that is a must try. I strongly encourage not passing this delicious hidden gem.

The pork belly and sticky rice, Thai iced tea, and apple salad are really good. All the food was delicious, I have no complaints! I’m excited to try the mango sticky rice next time I stop by.
