The seafood Mac is an upcharge of $9. Why? There were only about 3-4 shrimp in my serving, it was also slightly salty. The taste is good but the texture is inconsistent. Dried noodles and clumped cheese in certain areas while others were soft. I would love to see lump crab, crawfish, more shrimp, otherwise go down on that upcharge..
While the flounder was definitely meaty and great pieces, the batter did not stick. The dish was slightly soft/soggy. The batter itself didn’t have much flavor either.
Lastly, the sweet potatoes…just that. No flavor profile, just chunks of sweet potatoes.
Maybe eventually I’ll dine in and have a better experience.
We ordered “berry blast” and “giving me the blues” at 9:08pm. We ordered food at 9:12pm. We got salmon bites for appetizer. My friend got 2 bakes turkey wings with rice and seafood Mac. I got the 3 friend wings.
Berry blast was delicious! I think our waitress made our drinks.
9:24pm is when salmon bites arrived. Food came at 9:39pm. We also got corn bread. The Food was DELICIOUS and fresh! Music was great! My friend was visiting from out of state and I was visiting from another part of NC. We were in the area for pride events. We both desire to return! We didn’t have a single complaint regarding the food. Highly recommend!
Also, I believe someone told me that they were moving locations to a bigger spot, which would be great!
The food came out hot but way after people who were seated after us got their food. We didn’t even get drinks until the food came out. The server did apologize and try to explain and the manager did comp us a percentage on the meal.
Sadly I knew it was going to be like this when I walked in. It would be great if they had a staff meeting on how they can help each other stay organized and turn over tables quickly.
3 stars for the food.
❤️❤️I wish they’d place liquid foods in a separate container.
⚜️I got the Turkey Wing as so many raved about it and the issue: the meat didn’t taste seasoned nor drained to the bone. It’s baked so an overnight seasoning so things can macerate isn’t asking for much but their recipe/style relies on the garlic Parmesan on top (since that’s the one I ordered). Maybe the other offerings like Jerk have been seasoned so you can enjoy all of item. ⭐⭐⭐
I appreciate the Kale and Collard Greens offering. Now, they were in a well seasoned spice-a-rific POT LIQUOR. However, collards are tough on their own so a longer cook down would have been wholly appreciated by me. Nonetheless, I’d totally order again and just hook up at home. This is the healthier version so you don’t cook away all the vitamins as slow stewing/slow cooking can do.
My folks got the whiting. I wish they had more grilled options for fish. Why? My family enjoys whole fish grilled.
The delight on their plates was the fries for me. Often, Togo fries can be a gut punch of limp and cold. Not these seasoned fries. I’d totally recommend. 5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
P.S. You can not order any breakfast “brunch” sides at the Tryon location. I asked for a side of grits and learned quickly. I’m figuring they don’t offer any brunch items per the cashier’s statement but the menu posted on Instagram should denote that. Why? To avoid confusion and manage expectations BECAUSE I spent a good amount of time asking family if they wanted fish and grits or chicken and waffle.
P.P.S. there’s no seating here. They’ll call when the order is ready which was a lovely and needed gesture. It was offered without me having to ask.
‼️In all, I hope they continue to grow and expand on what they can do best.
Pictures of 2 of 3 plates.
I went to So Delish with a friend the Thursday before my birthday and had drinks and an appetizer at the bar. The experience was pleasant the bartenders were friendly and made refreshing drinks. Because of that positive visit, I decided to return on my birthday, 12/14.
On my birthday evening, I ordered my meal at the back bar (not the same front bar as before). The bartender was friendly and made a good drink. I do not mind waiting for good food even about 50-minute wait. However, when the food arrived, the only item that was hot was the shrimp. The seafood mac and cheese (which included an upcharge), collard greens, and rice were all cold.
I was disappointed and confused as to how this happened. The bartender did send the food back ;however, rather than sending the food back to be reheated, I saw workers reheating. I asked that those items be removed from the check, as reheating would not have addressed the issue.
