SOL Southwest Kitchen is a family-friendly establishment featuring indoor & outdoor dining, food with bold Southwest flavors and “just juiced” cocktails. Our made-from-scratch dedication has made SOL a local favorite since 2013. SOL blends bold flavors of the Southwest with our own Southern culinary influences. We like to keep things fresh. With a focus on dishes that let seasonal ingredients and select spices shine. The real star of our kitchen is our wood fire grill, and all menu items—from sauces to salsas to handcrafted cocktails—start from scratch and are made to order. All tequilas are 100% agave, citrus fruits are juiced daily, and avocados aren’t cut until you order guacamole.

Mexican plates with Southwest flair & margaritas are the draw at this stylish outpost with a patio.

We recently visited SOL in Mt. Pleasant for a casual dinner. Overall, the experience was just okay, nothing terrible, but nothing particularly memorable either.

My wife had the chicken enchiladas, which came in a generous portion, but the flavor was just average. Not bad, not great. My chicken sandwich was fine, but frankly, I’d prefer Chick-fil-A over it in terms of flavor. On the other hand, our son ordered a cheeseburger and he really enjoyed it.

Service was solid, attentive but not overbearing. Drinks were good, and we sat outside, which was nice thanks to the pleasant weather. There was some road noise, but it didn’t ruin the atmosphere. The indoor space looked very nice as well, so that’s something we might consider for next time.

In summary, it was an acceptable experience, but not one we’d rush to repeat. Worth a try if you’re nearby, but there are better spots in town if you’re looking for standout flavors.

If you live in the area then you already know about SOL. Food is delicious. Great selection of food and drink. Something for everyone. Staff is friendly and dogs are welcome. Even at the bar. Kids love the tuna pops. I’ve tried a few things but can’t get past the steak quesadilla. Stop by in the afternoon and sit on the patio. For those who don’t imbibe the mock tails are very enjoyable.

In the winter it can get a little loud inside. Sound bounces off the concrete floor. Outside can’t be beat for 3 season enjoyment.

Wanted to update my review. SOL probably has the best steak quesadilla in the low country. I know. You are going to say “dude. What about Taco Boy??!” Yes Taco Boy is brilliant. And they do a lot of things top notch. I am not saying SOL is #1 above and beyond everyone else, but if you are in the 29466 and you find you need some good Tex Mex – stop in. Also if you like this kind of thing just learned they make their own jalapeño infused tequila. Wife loved it.

SOL caught my eye a few times passing by from the exterior and overall look. Decided to try it out for lunch. The restaurant was empty. We were seated and placed our order. chips and salsas are extra not complimentary. The interior is a large space but has very few tables. It seemed like it might have been another restaurant at one point, not sure, but as it appeared “worn” and could use some sprucing up. I mean this not in terms of cleanliness but overall decor and appearance. Food arrived and both myself and the person I was having lunch with were surprised. I ordered a quesadilla and when it arrived it looked like 4 toaster strudels with the frosting drizzle on top. The other person ordered beef tacos but got shrimp. The waitress took the wrong order away and offered noticing in the interim for the person…no chips, no apology, nothing. So I ate my lunch in front of her as she waited for hers to arrive. It did and was correct but no compensation whats so ever. The food was good. However, sides are extra. It was fresh and served hot but it was pricey for what we got. $17 for a quesadilla and $7 per taco. SOL wouldn’t be my choice for Mexican food given the service, atmosphere, and prices.

Excellent flavors. Unique tastes. Great ambiance. I had the Adobo chicken taco and the tuna taco with the Jalapeño slaw. All excellent. My husband had the chicken sandwich. It lacked on the flavor side, but was still ok. The fries were excellent.
We also had the apple empaniada for dessert. Nicely cooked with smaller chunks of apple. All in all happy with our choice to go here!

We went probably what most people consider a lunch time. I ordered a Texas Burger and fries and it was outstanding! My friend ordered a chicken Chipotle quesadilla and it was great as well.
The server was polite and friendly and the service was excellent.
I would highly recommend.

We have been in Mt Pleasant for 6 months and have made our way around to several local establishments trying different foods. As a business consultant, here’s the unbiased low down on SOL.
For Lunch on Saturday it was empty, 1 big table, and 2 couples at 2 booths. Our Waitress was attentive and pretty much spot on and the positive in this review.
I first laughed at the 1/2” board menu she handed us which you better be ready for because they’re 5 lbs. ‍♂️
Food- let me just say I know it’s Mt P and higher in the area but their prices are pricy and No free chips and salsa here folks. $8 if you want them. We ordered 1 chik taco and 1 shrimp Taco. They were good but $7 ea is Crazy! About $1.20-$1.50 food cost per taco, they are priced quite high. The chicken quesadilla was good but again, at $17 we were in sticker shock And that’s with no sides. We had an appetizer and 3 drinks. Total with tip was over $65.
Atmosphere- was ok but felt large empty and cold. restaurants should be warm and inviting, it isn’t.
It raised an eyebrow how dead it was for lunch.
Wait staff- was great and on point. Loved the check in and refilling and not over bearing. Best part of the visit.
Overall it was an experience. Food was ok but nothing to talk to our friends and neighbors about. Whether this helps or not I believe SOL owners would benefit reviewing their price point. There’s no way a family of 5 is dropping $100 on Mexican and thinking about coming back any time soon. You are better off selling 20 tacos at $5 than 4 at $7. We tried it but won’t be back for 2nds.

Very unique dining experience. The food was amazing. There are plenty of drink options. I had the Texas BBQ burger, and it was cooked exactly how I ordered it. The menu had several options, which is great because we have picky eaters. There is something for everyone. Jason was our server, and he made our experience even better. He was very friendly, prompt, and made our experience memorable. If you’re looking for something different, I highly recommend checking out this place.

I have tried several entrées and my favorite is the Sol salad with citrus vinaigrette. Salmon is my protein I choose.

Sol is located next to the hotel we are staying at. We saw that they were kid friendly so we decided to give it a shot. We were very glad we did. Our children (13 & 6) loved their meals as did my husband and I. The prices were excellent and they had several options of meals. The menu was easy to read. Our waiter was great. Food came fast, hot, and looked amazing. They have outdoor and indoor dining. They also have live music on certain nights.

Good food and drinks. Their cocktails are really good, I recommend the Mezcal Mule. Fajitas and Burgers are good as well, I got the Surf & Turf Fajitas and the Green Chile Cheeseburger. Asked for Medium Well on the burger and it came out to perfection.
