I had the pollo al horno rice plate it was okay nothing stellar taste like normal chicken breast. Not missing out on anything special. The bistec encebollado the steak rice plate was amazing from the grilled onions to the beans. The fried garlic plantains and the way the beef was seasoned yuhhh. Gasss so good. Get that plate for sure. Pricing for food was great as well. Not spending an arm and leg to eat out and the ambience was super nice. The sauce they have on the side is really good too. Copped a bottle for the house ya feel. $14 for a large one. Overall banger pull up for the one time.

Best part of our experience was the food! We ordered the Pollo Rostizado (whole chicken), large sides of the rice and the beans, sweet plantains, and Mofongo Relleno De Camerones (shrimp with mashed plantains & salad). All the dishes were very good! Party of 5, and it was enough for all of us. Spent about $110 before tip. The chicken was tender, moist, and very flavorful! I guess we could’ve ordered the combo, but we wanted larger sides of beans and rice. My parents really enjoyed everything! They also appreciated that some of the food was soft, because it was gentle on their teeth. For example, the beans, plantains, and chicken were tender and it was easy to chew for them. I thought each dish complimented each other when all the items were on my plate. I really enjoyed the bottle of vinegar sauce on the table. I out it on my chicken, and it brought out the flavors even more.
The seating can be difficult for larger parties, because the place is really busy on the weekends. I commend the workers for their efforts, because it’s such a busy environment, and they probably have so many requests from the patrons like we did, lol!
The food is very good, and I’d drive from San Francisco to the San Rafael location if I start to crave their food. The Petaluma location, however, is larger and newer. The decor is inviting and feels like we’re in a tropical location.

The Arroz con Pollo was a bargain. Great quality, flavor and price.
The Cubano was very good. The pork was very good, the ham was sparse, the bread was the real star.
Nose is a factor here. It’s loud.
Service was informed, fast and attentive.

My first time trying Puerto Rican food and I’m SOLD. 10/10 will be back.
I’ll be honest, I can’t remember the names of anything I got. It was prawns over mashed plantains, a soup, some pink beans with ham hocks, a half rotisserie chicken, some olives, and a hot sauce.
They were all amazing!!! Their Pique sauce with the chicken was probably the highlight.

This place is bomb! Hits every time. Soooo happy we have one in Petaluma, next to my office no less! I usually get the Pollo Al Horno and I’m never disappointed but branched out and got the Guiso de Coco and it was fiyerrrr.

Loved the spacious outdoor patio at this location! Sol Food has been on our radar to try for a while and I’m glad we came to the Petaluma one because of the dog-friendly outdoor seating and it being less busy during the day. We had brunch instead of opting for the dishes they’re known for – the chicken. But that just means we’ll need to come back another time for lunch or dinner! The tostones under the benedicto were perfect and the ham was not too thick which is what I preferred. The pan frances was a huge amount and was also very good.

just discovered my new favorite restaurant in Petaluma! You can have eggs all day, which is perfect for me since I don’t start eating until noon—I’m trying intermittent fasting, and eggs are my ideal first meal. The black bean omelette is incredibly yummy, and the coconut latte is delicious as well.
They even make their own condiments, like pique which is a perfect balance of vinegar, sweet, and spicy—it adds the perfect touch to any meal. Prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and you can enjoy your meal in your own little space at the counter.
Oh, and I can’t forget the fresh-squeezed orange juice—it’s fantastic! Definitely a must-visit spot.

It’s been a while since I had some good Puerto food. This place was on point. Not was too salty everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The ribs were very tender the salad was well dressed and the pinto beans had just the right amount of flavor. The bean soup was spectacular and the next day it was even better. Glad to have found this gem. Next time I’m in SF I’ll be back.

They checked on us several times to make sure we were doing well. Lively atmosphere and we aat at the high top bar overlooking the kitchen. Fun to watch.

I’ve been to Sol Food multiple times, and I could never fully decide between a 4 or 5 star review. Well, during my last dine-in visit, I finally settled on 4 stars.
I usually order COSTILLAS DE CERDO – rotisserie pork ribs. The first time I had them, they were perfect, but every time after that, they were dry, which wasn’t very pleasant. I also tried a sandwich (I don’t remember which one), and it was great! Their Pique Sauce is amazing! I put it on everything: rice, salad, ribs.
The portions are very big, which I love. I always get full before finishing my food.
The staff is friendly, and the restaurant has plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating is especially nice on hot days.
Maybe from now on, I’ll stick with sandwiches, since ordering the pork ribs feels a little too risky.
