Sokah BBQ opened today 2PM on Duss Avenue in Ambridge. My son and I tried the pulled pork and the brisket with the smoked Mac & Cheese.

Tonight was Sokah: Caribbean BBQ in Ambridge! We had been seeing some positive reviews and this was on my radar so we made the trip.
I will say parking isn’t solid, so you might need to park a block or two up or on a side street. They do have tables inside so there is seating there! The guys behind the counter were awesome, super enthusiastic and helpful! They do run out of things so if there’s something you are very specifically wanting make sure you get there early or not on a Friday (I will be back to try that Mac and cheese if my life depends on it!)
We ordered a bunch of items – I got the chopped beef sammich (brisket, jalapeño Aioli, pickled red onions) which was absolutely incredible. The brisket was so good, it had a nice crunchy bark to it, a lot of flavor, I don’t know what they did to pickle those onions but I need more of it, a lot more. The aioli really added a lot of nice depth to the sandwich A+!
The Dino rib special was awesome, a nice beefy chunk of rib, great bark and seasoning, the smoke ring was incredible, definitely get it if they have it!
The pulled pork was probably the best pulled pork I’ve had anywhere. It was so flavorful, seasoned well, and tender. I tried it with their mango habanero sauce it was
The oxtail was a whole new world, it was by far the most incredible thing we had tonight. Fall off the bone tender, it was a straight up flavor bomb so do not miss that.
The sausage was ok, it wasn’t our favorite but it wasn’t bad, just wasn’t our thing!
The sides – corn bread and candied yams. The corn bread was so fluffy and nice, it was absolutely delicious and I don’t really like corn bread that much, but I couldn’t put it down! I am not a fan of yams, but I tried these and actually didn’t mind them, Clare said it was mind blowing for her, being she loves yams, and they were out of this world so I’ll defer to her
I would say in terms of brisket I would put them up against Mitch’s as being my favorite in the city, but their sandwich with the toppings might tip the scales in Sokah’s favor. I’ll give Mitch’s the better sausage, and the pulled pork definitely goes to Sokah. I’ve not had oxtail anywhere else this was a first so can’t compare that, as well as the beef rib.
Overall this is a gem and I hope you all go out and support this place. It’s awesome, unique, and absolutely delicious!

Sokah BBQ in Ambridge might just be the best BBQ in the entire Pittsburgh area. I had the jerked chicken, brisket baked beans, cornbread, and peach cobbler — and honestly, every single thing was a hit. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone good with that spicy kick that keeps you going back for “just one more bite.” The brisket beans? Smoky, hearty, and basically a meal by themselves. The cornbread was soft, sweet, and didn’t crumble into dust like some sad cornbread imposters out there. And the peach cobbler… let’s just say I would fight someone for the last bite.
If you’re anywhere near Ambridge and don’t stop here, that’s your loss. This place is the real deal!

Some of the best food in Pittsburgh hands down! The oxtail, jerk chicken, Mac n cheese, greens, that soul bowl or jerk chicken pasta. I’ve never had a bad meal at sokah and the guys behind the counter are truly the best! Corey is so personal and the chef JB I think is his name has just great flavor on all his meats and fixings! All they need is a catchy theme song and they’re basically at the top for me!

Oxtails…..should be called butter-tails….so good and fall of bone. Jerk chicken, perfect spice and so moist. Sides delicious. My wife said best corn bread, hands down best.
