After thoroughly enjoying my dining experience at Thaifoon in London, I was excited to hear about their sister restaurant Soi Thaifoon having a location in Kitchener. Since my best friend and I were in town for the day, we decided to have dinner here before heading back home. In contrast to the elevated dining atmosphere of Thaifoon, Soi Thaifoon exudes a more casual dining atmosphere and vibes of street markets in Thailand, but the menu is the same and the service and quality of food is just as incredible. My craving for their peanut noodles with vegetables and Panko-crusted shrimp was successfully satisfied and a hot cup of jasmine tea was a perfect drink on a cold winter evening. The service was excellent; food came out quickly and was plated beautifully. The staff were attentive and friendly, promptly providing extra napkins, hot glasses of water, and a takeout container for leftovers when asked. It’s definitely a place to come back to the next time I’m in town!

My first time trying Thai food, and definitely will not be my last! I got the yellow curry with chicken, and it was extreeeemely delicious. I have been craving it since I got it. A little pricey, but it is a good quantity – worth it if you want a proper Thai meal. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and even gave us free drinks to try! 10/10, I % recommend!!

FOOD: Spring Rolls, a Foon Roll, Shrimp Pad Thai (big portion and lots of shrimp) and a Mango Moon smoothie. Delicious!
ATMOSPHERE: Casual, cute decor (love all fabric balloons), nice music.

Fantastic place! We placed a takeout order for new years eve. They have alot of delicious options to choose from and the ordering process was very easy. We picked a time and it was ready when we got there, even tho they were busy. The food was incredible, we loved every bite of it.

The food and flavours are really on point. We ordered the avo moonshine, tom kha and their street pad thai. Everything was perfect filled with flavours and spices. This is a must try if you are in KWC.

Genuinely the worst experience I have had at a restaurant. I have lived in KW since I was 8 (I’m 24 now), and never have been a harsh critic at food places because as someone who has worked many years in the food industry, I understand sometimes people just have bad days.

This, however, is far from that. My husband and I went today, Dec 18, for a nice date. We enter and there are 3 workers huddled around a table, who don’t even look up at us. We chose a seat and went to the counter to order. There was no one at the register, so I go up to them and I ask if we can order and she says “No, we’re on break right now”. I’m already taken aback so we go sit down and then we go up once one of the girl goes to the register about 5 mins later.

We order the Thai Boat Noodles, which is the first thing that pops up when you open the website. She says “We don’t serve that before 6 pm.” I’m confused because NOWHERE on the website does it indicate it is on a time basis. I tell her that, and she rudely goes “Well, we forgot to bring the broth out today so its frozen.” Like seriously?? It is front and center on your website. We ordered some dishes (very very salty and simply disappointing for the price of ~$80). Then we order dessert, the mango sticky rice. She says “We stopped selling that.” Why is it on the menu then?

Then, we decide to go with a drink to go, and I ask for what she recommends. She tells me that I can just look at the menu. Yes, I know I can, but I asked for a suggestion!!! I ordered thai iced tea, and we go back to our seat again. You can see what monstrosity they served us. I immediately ask why its so little, she tells me that this is normal portion and that the ice just melted a little.

People, does this look like a regular portion to you? Do they realize I have eyes and a brain? There is not even ONE SIP of tea here.

I’m truly dumbfounded at how this is even allowed.

Met a couple of friends here who had heard good things about it. Two of us had Pad Thai and the third had the special (not exactly sure what it was). We all loved our food! The staff were very friendly and checked in on us to ensure we were enjoying our food. Will definitely return and would recommend for a quick, yummy lunch!

My first time eating Thai food. Was hesitant, but turned out to be one of my best dining experiences. The dish I ordered was flavourful. The servers were polite. And the person who took our order was considerate, knowledgeable and really wanted to make sure we enjoyed our food!

I had a somewhat lackluster experience at Soi Thaifoon in December of 2025. It came recommended by an acquaintence and we were looking forward to a good experience.

Didn’t realize until getting there that it’s an order-at-the-counter kind of restaurant. Nonetheless its quite tastefully renovated inside – looks great!

The meals were okay – I had the green curry chicken and coconut chicken soup and both were fine. My partner had the pad thai and was quite dissatisfied – said it tasted sour to her; I had a bite and didn’t care for it but I’m not really a pad thai fan anyway.

Given my meal was okay I was going to leave a 3 stars review. However, it irritates me that, when ordering food at a counter I am still being prompted to tip 15%, 18%, 20% or more?? And I have to do this BEFORE I get my food?? And in this case when we are not satisfied with the meal, oh, can we request to reduce our tip to something commensurate with the experience?? I hate this pressure to leave a tip at a counter, when the staff is hovering over you watching your every move. And worrying if I don’t leave a tip are they going to do something unsavory to my food.
