Reviews
FOOD: Spring Rolls, a Foon Roll, Shrimp Pad Thai (big portion and lots of shrimp) and a Mango Moon smoothie. Delicious!
ATMOSPHERE: Casual, cute decor (love all fabric balloons), nice music.
OVERALL: Fantastic! Absolutely recommend.
This, however, is far from that. My husband and I went today, Dec 18, for a nice date. We enter and there are 3 workers huddled around a table, who don’t even look up at us. We chose a seat and went to the counter to order. There was no one at the register, so I go up to them and I ask if we can order and she says “No, we’re on break right now”. I’m already taken aback so we go sit down and then we go up once one of the girl goes to the register about 5 mins later.
We order the Thai Boat Noodles, which is the first thing that pops up when you open the website. She says “We don’t serve that before 6 pm.” I’m confused because NOWHERE on the website does it indicate it is on a time basis. I tell her that, and she rudely goes “Well, we forgot to bring the broth out today so its frozen.” Like seriously?? It is front and center on your website. We ordered some dishes (very very salty and simply disappointing for the price of ~$80). Then we order dessert, the mango sticky rice. She says “We stopped selling that.” Why is it on the menu then?
Then, we decide to go with a drink to go, and I ask for what she recommends. She tells me that I can just look at the menu. Yes, I know I can, but I asked for a suggestion!!! I ordered thai iced tea, and we go back to our seat again. You can see what monstrosity they served us. I immediately ask why its so little, she tells me that this is normal portion and that the ice just melted a little.
People, does this look like a regular portion to you? Do they realize I have eyes and a brain? There is not even ONE SIP of tea here.
I’m truly dumbfounded at how this is even allowed.
Didn’t realize until getting there that it’s an order-at-the-counter kind of restaurant. Nonetheless its quite tastefully renovated inside – looks great!
The meals were okay – I had the green curry chicken and coconut chicken soup and both were fine. My partner had the pad thai and was quite dissatisfied – said it tasted sour to her; I had a bite and didn’t care for it but I’m not really a pad thai fan anyway.
Given my meal was okay I was going to leave a 3 stars review. However, it irritates me that, when ordering food at a counter I am still being prompted to tip 15%, 18%, 20% or more?? And I have to do this BEFORE I get my food?? And in this case when we are not satisfied with the meal, oh, can we request to reduce our tip to something commensurate with the experience?? I hate this pressure to leave a tip at a counter, when the staff is hovering over you watching your every move. And worrying if I don’t leave a tip are they going to do something unsavory to my food.
