Both the regular bibimbap and the hot stone bibimbap are very delicious with a lot of veggies and meat. The regular bibimbap is slightly smaller than the hot stone one, but it’s totally sufficient for a person already. The central waiting line to put an order for any vendor in this food court is a bit inconvenient, but overall it’s a nice place for a hearty Korean lunch. We would love to come back.

Very good Korean food. I’d say it’s just as good, if not better than places in Centreville and Annadale.
Service is fast, and price is very reasonable.

Before I went there, I couldn’t believe all the reviews about the restaurant. But after I tried all my dishes, I knew it was one of the best Korean restaurants in the US, even though it is a takeout-specialized store. It was an excellent experience for me.

Can’t speak highly enough of the food here. Its in a food court so atmosphere definitely depends on how busy it is.

However, the Kalbi (Beef Short Ribs) makes up for the atmosphere. It’s a large portion (my husband and I shared this) that comes with rice, miso soup, and several condiments like kimchi, scallion pancake and pickled radish to enjoy together or separately. The Ramen also looked incredible.

Simple and very accessible Korean food that is incredibly enjoyable. Will definitely return.

This is one of the 5 restaurants at the food court inside the H Mart Asian supermarket. It’s the only one detached from the rest at the far end next to the restrooms.

The way you go about ordering your food is a bit unusual. You would look around at each restaurant for the menu as well as mock samples and decide what you want. Then you have to go to a centralized ordering station, which is the second station from the back, to make your order and pay for your food. The number on your receipt would be announced via the loud speaker when your food is ready. But there’s a twist – you have to pick up your food at the respective restaurant. If you order from multiple restaurants, you’d have no idea which one is ready when you hear your number announced. This could be confusing and frazzling, especially if you’ve never been here before, and/or you have a big party and your orders are all over the place!

We’ve tried Sogongdong twice so far. The soft tofu stew (soondubu) is very standard, using the standard soondubu serving vessels and ingredients. They come piping hot and with a raw egg and 2 banchan sides. I’ve always had the seafood variety and I would recommend you the same. Unless you can’t take seafood, there’s simply no comparison how much more tasty the seafood broth is. I’ve tried the beef/seafood combo but I would not recommend it. The beef is almost always tough.

Price is a bit cheaper than other soondubu joints, but you only get 2 banchan sides compared to 6-8. On the most recent visit, the sides were kimchi and pickled cucumbers. Tip: don’t feel abashed to ask for banchan refill. They won’t cringe. Also, make sure you crack the egg into the broth while it’s still piping hot.

I think this is my favorite among the restaurants at this H Mart food court. Give it a try when you’re in town.

by far the best korean food ive had so far!! i arrived 10 minutes after closing (without noticing the time) and everyone was so kind. the food i wanted was $15 but i only had $10 in cash so they worked with what i had and served me their new yubu. it was AMAZING! the sauce on top was incredible and the side dishes were also really good. i love that it was a variety of different meats so you got a little taste of everything. i will definitely be coming back soon. i might have found my new favorite dish!

Recently had a chance to dine here during a business trip and I must say, the food and service was exceptional. As a Korean who lives in heavily Korean populated area back in NY/NJ, I really could not taste any “difference” in the taste of the food and I’d go further to say the quality is far better than most of the tofu houses back in NY/NJ area. Since I will be traveling often to Frederick, definitely will be back to try different menus. Even my non-Korean coworkers had only good things to say about this place and to me, that says a lot. Hope to be back soon!

I went here for the first time and I definitely highly recommend visiting! For people wanting to taste and experience Korean food, this is the restaurant to go! I usually don’t write reviews, but on top of the food, the owner was very kind. This place made my day!
