We relied on our host to assist us with our choice of meal for dinner. We each ordered two shrimp tacos. They were great topped with cheese and mixed in with a special sauce! Very nice restaurant!

Sofia’s has two locations in Brawley. The one on A street next to College View and the one right off of Main Street. My family and I visited the one on Main. Service was rather marginal and I’m being generous.

Our male server seemed like he was doing a lot. Running tickets, taking orders, cleaning, etc. and you could tell he wasn’t the best at multitasking.

The other three female servers were pretty much not helping out a lot or pretending to work. All but one was helping out the male server. The place wasn’t busy enough to warrant poor service. Drinks took forever and tacos were given a person at a time.

We didn’t order the traditional seafood as I wasn’t sure if it would really live up to my expectations. So, I tried the tacos (you really can’t mess that up) the fish, shrimp, and mantaraya tacos were good. The manta needed a lot more salt. I added it and they were better, but adding salt after isn’t really ideal.

We also ordered wings and they were great. The horchata and Jamaica were sub standard and should be fresh rather than out of a machine. The place is cool, but I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like come summer. Lots of windows and it’s hot here.

Overall, the prices are about the average for our county, the service could be 100% better, but the food is good. I won’t say I’d go back because service matters to me. Parking is also limited.

I’ve heard that the A street restaurant serves up better food and with better service, but I’ve also heard the place is small. That’s why we visited this location. If service matters to you, it wouldn’t be my first pick, but if you are willing to wait and are okay with having to track down your server, by all means.

Overall 3 stars could be 5, but definitely needs work. Specifically, well trained servers who actually want to work. Hope this helps.
