I ordered a regular ol’ Gyro with a water and after tax it was $16. I couldn’t even eat the whole thing in one go so I’ll definitely be saying it’s worth every penny
Revision:
My previous review was a 3-star rating. For some reason, the owner (maybe manager, dishwasher or who know what – certainly not chief proofreader) decided to attack me through the compliment system so I’m dropping them to 1-star. Check out the screen capture of consecutive pearls sent to me for proof.
To be clear, I asked the guy who made my food whose products they were serving and he told me.
Initial review:
I was really looking forward to trying this place but didn’t love their gyros. I appreciated the fact that they griddled their pita but I found several issues with the sandwich overall:
1. Their interpretation of tzatziki was a bit on the bland side and appeared devoid of cucumber…a signature component of a good tzatziki. Also, they went a bit light on the sauce.
2. The meat was carved from a spit (big plus!) but was one of the off-brands that come out of the Chicago restaurant supply houses. I know this because I asked the guy who made my food. If you’re charging eight bucks for a gyros it should damn well be Kronos or Olympia supplying your cones. Also, the slices of meat would have benefitted from having spent a little more time on the cone or run over the flat top to give them the sear that really brings out the flavors.
3. Red onions instead of white seemed a little out of place.
Service was good.
Folks, there really are some good places to get gyros in the STL but unfortunately this doesn’t turn out to be among the best.
Things to beware of:
Probably don’t wanna bring more than 4 people at a time, seems like most people come for takeout. We ate inside tho and it was still plenty comfortable.
No fountain drinks/refills. Just bottles of tea and canned soda.
I don’t consider either a con, just thought you might like to know
