The service here is awesome, and very attentive to your needs. For the quality of the food, cocktails, and overall experience, the price point feels very fair for an upscale restaurant in this area.
My only minor knock is that the restaurant is a bit smaller than I expected, but it actually creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere that works well for a date night for 2 people but I wouldn’t recommend large groups here due to lack of large tables. Overall, this is a great date night spot for an upscale experience!
Kyle, our server, was incredible, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm without ever being overbearing. Manager Chari also stopped by our table, and she was just as wonderful, making us feel so welcomed and well taken care of. That level of hospitality really sets this place apart.
Amazing food, amazing service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Society Swan is a must-visit, and I’ll absolutely be back.
First, let’s cover ambiance and decor. The transformation from Kona Grill is unbelievable and the space is very well used. The lighting is perfect, the artwork interesting, and the benches are probably the most interesting I’ve seen in Arizona.
I truly appreciated that the cocktails list was thoughtfully curated with strong drinks that you can still taste the individual ingredients. Nothing was sticky sweet or everclear astringent. The international affair was especially on point with that lychee flavor you crave balanced by the yuzu citrus. Also, the fancy cowboy attire and Negroni were absolutely delicious and I would gladly drink both again.
Next is food. Just look at the pics for yourself. If they don’t make your mouth water, I can’t help you. Truly, the food is outstanding with the French onion soup being some of the best I’ve ever had. The oysters were just as fresh as buck and rider, and perfectly shucked. Our sushi was straightforward, but so clean tasting, and we did the fresh crab upgrade for the roll which added just another touch of sweetness to the preparation. The fried chicken sandwich was nearly perfect – just a touch heavy on the mayo. Oh, and the gluten free apple cake? My wife who has celiac said it was one of the first crave-able gf desserts she has ever had. Finally, shout out to the plate, glassware, and silverware selector. Every utensil was interesting, and the plating and presentation added to getting lost in the meal.
Lastly, all of the accolades would be nearly meaningless if the service was lacking. However, that was not the case at all. The hostess’ got us added on the list and our quoted time of 20 minutes was exactly when they sat us. Our server, Mika, was an absolute joy and helped us navigate the food and beverage menu. She was also very knowledgeable about gf food and did an excellent job communicating my wife’s allergies to the kitchen. She also was the whole reason we got dessert as she was quick to let us know it was gluten free. And again, it was such a treat!
The prebus and food runner service was some of the best I’ve seen in years, and David – the manager on when we were eating – was everything you could hope for in a FOH representative. His table touches were very easy going, his presence authentic, and I saw him working across the different parts of the restaurant to orchestrate wonderful experiences for everyone.
If you’ve stayed with me this far, I hope I’ve conveyed how great the experience was. Truly a gem in a very, very crowded food scene, and an establishment I hope to enjoy many more times.
I did want to try the sushi rolls, but Society Swan is the only restaurant on the planet that won’t offer soy paper over seaweed. Note to Sam Fox – you need to see what the competition is doing because many fine dining restaurants not only lead with soy paper rolls, but the ‘new sensation’ for sushi rolls is ‘riceless sushi’ that I see all over Dallas but not here in Scottsdale.
That leads me back to the menu and what we ordered. Other than the sushi which I did not get because they don’t offer soy paper, the menu is pretty much ‘unoriginal’ for a restaurant whose decor seems original.
We both got mocktails which were just sour water. We then started with the chicken potstickers that I thought would be pan fried, not deep fried. The filling reminded me of ‘Underwood Devils Spread’ in a tough and somewhat greasy dough. Not pleasant.
I ordered the cheeseburger without cheese and while I think the meat was high quality, the burger itself was so over salted I almost sent it back (something I rarely do). The pickles were terrible. Very sour and not even resembling pickles, a big slab of tomato and some sauce that was sour. I just realized. Everything I ate had an acidic/sour taste
My friend got the French dip which he said was fine but nowhere near ‘Hillstone quality’.
Will be interesting to see if this place makes it given the competition of Elephante (which I LOVE) and Catch.
This place isn’t cheap. Spent $120 for two (including tip).
We arrived early at Fashion Square and took our time browsing a few shops before locating the street-level entrance. From the moment we stepped inside, the restaurant completely erased the feeling of being in a mall. Heavy drapery conceals the exterior, creating an immersive, transportive environment reminiscent of a French-inspired, New York–style brasserie. Upstairs, the bar buzzed with energy as young professionals filtered in after work, meeting coworkers and easing into the evening.
Despite the busy 6:30 p.m. check-in window, the welcome was warm and efficient. We were guided downstairs to meet our hostess and shown to our table without feeling rushed or lost in the crowd. The menu struck a perfect balance—approachable yet refined, offering enough variety to feel exciting without veering into pretension.
Our server, Caden, was excellent from the start, offering a thoughtful house wine recommendation based on our preferences that proved to be a great match. We began with the French baguette paired with baked brie and truffle honey—rich, indulgent, and impossible not to enjoy. In a moment of classic clumsiness, I managed to get honey on my shirt and arm. When I returned from washing up, manager David had already noticed and quietly stepped in with an impressive display of hospitality: hot water, a neatly folded napkin, a microfiber cloth, and Tide wipes, all delivered with ease and discretion. It was an unexpected but deeply appreciated moment that made us feel genuinely cared for.
For dinner, my wife ordered the braised short ribs, served alongside Brussels sprouts and a smooth butternut squash mash. The dish was comforting and deeply flavorful, with the richness of the short ribs balanced beautifully by the earthiness of the vegetables. I opted for the prime rib dip—layers of melted fontina and Gruyère, horseradish aioli, and tender beef on a garlic butter baguette—paired with a side of crisp, perfectly cooked French fries. Portions were generous without being overwhelming, leaving us satisfied with just enough to take home.
Dessert was the black forest sticky toffee pudding, finished with chocolate toffee sauce, whipped marshmallow cream, and Luxardo cherries. It was outstanding. The pudding was warm and decadent without feeling heavy, the chocolate toffee sauce indulgent but balanced, and the cherries added just the right amount of brightness to cut through the richness. Paired with an espresso martini and the remainder of our red wine, it was a flawless way to end the meal.
From start to finish, the experience felt intentional, welcoming, and polished—never stuffy, always thoughtful. Society Swan delivered not just a memorable meal, but a true sense of hospitality that stood out, especially for first-time guests. We’ll absolutely be back and are grateful for an evening that felt like a genuine escape.
Oh, and before we got home a reservation for the following weekend was made.
Walking down the staircase felt like a true portal back to a time where service is king and food is an experience, not just a means to an end.
We started with the French Onion soup and baked Brie, which were both sweet and tasty.
The club sandwich, with the fried egg, was a very European version of the sandwich like a Cunard Club sandwich.
We finished with the upside down apple tart which was heavenly.
