Started next door at Lalo (5 stars) and went through the “rose door” into Social Oak. Amazing place.

The bar area was incredible. I was almost disappointed we didnt sit there, but that ended immediately as we had an amazing table next to the kitchen where we could see the magic being made.

From the hostess, our server and the Staff that brought us food and drinks the service was world class. Everyone was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.

The menu was great. So many creative choices. We landed on the Deep Fried Egg, Lobster Corn Dogs and several of the Wagyu burgers. All were amazing. Both presentation and flavors were on point. We accented our food with amazing drinks that were perfect.

We cant wait to go back and try more items, but that will be difficult as we want all those again.

Great place and fun fun fun.

This restaurant popped up on my phone so I made reservations for my husband and I to try it on a Thursday evening. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sando, Brown Butter Royal Burger, Parmesan Chips, Flash Fried Deviled Eggs. Everything was delicious, 10 out of 10. They use beef tallow for frying which is so tasty. It’s all served as small plates that can be shared and it comes out as it’s cooked so not everything comes at the same time. It was so good. I had one their specialty cocktails, Outer Banks” and it was perfectly blended with lots of flavor. We ended out night with their Churros and we loved them, we will be back to try the lobster corn dogs.

Truly a hidden gem! The dishes’ flavor profiles are certainly unique yet utterly DELECTABLE. The atmosphere is one of a kind, and the staff are great! Great portion sizes and very reasonable prices. Found this place while traveling and went two nights in a row. Definitely order the lobster mac and cheese, chat with Krystal at the bar, and enjoy!

I went this weekend for their opening and I would suggest giving them some more time. It has a cozy atmosphere, the decor was great, and staff was very friendly, but it is more of a cocktail bar with some snacks then a full restaurant, at the time of their opening they had more cocktails available than food options. They have a meat dry aging cabinet that is empty. The menu is okay, some items more simple like 3 deviled eggs for $13 or 6 pieces of bacon for $11 and some were better items like a Nashville hot fried chicken salad which was very tasty and the burger was great. Even after delaying their opening by a week, 6 of the items on the menu still wernt available to be ordered yet. There are no NA cocktails on the menu. There is also no dessert menu. The food that was available was good and came out quickly and the service team was very knowledgeable and friendly, I think this place has potential but I would give it some more time

What a gift to the Treasure Valley this is. The fact that the cocktails are spot on is no surprise coming from the owners of this concept, but the newsworthy story here is the food. True southern…with a twist. How can something be true southern with a twist? The lobster mac and cheese. We have all had it somewhere or another but Southern Oak makes a trule respectable southern Mac and cheese (from someone who grew up there) and adds properly delicately cooked lobster to it, masterful. The sloppy joe is the most absurd and well executed elevations of a simple dish I have ever encountered. Other items we tried that were included the burger, ceviche, and one of the salads. Everything was spot on, I cant wait to try the soft shell crab BLT when it becomes available as it is a combo I have come to love in other parts of the country. Staff were professional, friendly, enthusiastic, and courteous. Atmosphere is really cool with lanterns made out of old Blanton’s bottles and an Oak tree anchoring the space. I know this sounds effusive but I was truly impressed. Check this spot out, it is well worth it. I will review separately but its neighboring Lalo is pretty amazing as well.

The atmosphere and staff were amazing but the food was lacking. The drinks were wonderful. The lobster corn dogs were very dry. It was a great idea but way overcooked. The burger was just ok. The deviled eggs were cool but lacking flavor and I feel I can confidently say that because I am from Georgia. The best thing on the menu was the candied bacon. It was amazing. Overall I think the location has potential because the drinks, staff, and atmosphere were great. I just think for the price point the food needs some tweaking.

I had the wagyu burger and two drinks recommended by my server who was delightful, kind, and attentive! Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had on a Tuesday afternoon. I’ll be coming back with my friends to try the absinthe ‍↕️

From the man behind the valleys favorite burger joint, Sids Garage comes a new style bistro bar. Social Oak. He is also to blame for Gatsby, and next door to SO, Lalo.

True to form it has a elevated feel with an undertone of casual vibes. Not upscale but nice for a date and a drink. However you will pay upscale prices.

The owner came by at some point to ask how things were going which he does at all his places if he is there. A nice personal touch I’ve always enjoyed. I did give him a hard time about a few things which I’ll share now.

Who am I to tell this successful restaurant dude anything? Well if you have to ask…

I digress

Food: 4 stars. Good creative pup style food. Presentation top notch. Could use fries or a side on a burger order but let’s not be that guy.

Drinks: 3 stars. I test every bar/cocktail lounge by its Old Fashioned. No ice ball, crushed ice. Boo hiss! (Found out later ice ball maker or people were down) No cherry but great presentation.
a. Other cocktails were great although light on the alcohol part.
b. Mocktails: just ok (wife is pregnant) but paying $25 for two is absurd! The expensive part is not even I the drink! 1 star

Service: 4 stars. Great server. Owner wasn’t interested in actually hearing anything I said. But to be expected.

Vibe: 4 stars. Cool touches throughout. Failed on music. Playing loud rock but this could be the owners style as it corsses other places he is involved in. Still does not fit the vibe of the room.
a. Bar top had lighting in the stone. Cool but so bright and room was dark that it was blinding. Had to feel around for my stool to find it and we had to keep our menus and put them over the under lighting so we could see each other. Need dimmers or something. Gonna have some poor pregnant lady fall trying to get a seat.

Front door handle was broken off hanging there.

That summs it up. Good at touches that look cool, makes good look cool, but misses when it comes to what matters. Broken door. Proper ice, (at least let the customer know and take a buck or two off drink) harsh lighting at the bar with vibe killing music. Oh and overpriced juice.

I can’t wait to try Lalo and I do love SG and Gatsby. Was hoping this one hit but for me it was a miss.

High Quality spot. Amazing food, amazing drinks, and amazing service. There is so much detail that goes into every drink from the ingredient prep to the presentation.

We came for drinks but ended up trying the lobster Mac n Cheese and the candied bacon roll ups. Highly recommend!

Each cocktail has its own unique glassware/presentation which is a cool experience for the guest.

The Oaxacan Old Fashion is perfect. Anytime a cocktail has Mezcal, is risky. But they have mastered this one to where it is perfectly balanced with the Browned Butter sweetness. Smoky, smooth and a hint of sweet. Very well done.

Keep in mind: they’ve been open 1 week from the time of this post. They haven’t had their grand opening yet. Staff are still learning cocktail recipes, so it takes an extra minute. It’s so worth it though. Reading some of these 3 star reviews is mind blowing how critical some people are and believe they know so much. When they really don’t know much about food/bev. As someone who has worked in this industry behind the bar, this place is incredible and already rocking it. We can’t wait to try the entire menu!

Really enjoyed our experience here – from cocktails to apps to dinner. Small plates, but high quality, and not obscenely expensive. I really don’t understand these 1 & 3 star reviews. Maybe just was just growing pains, because this place is firing on all cylinders now.
