Happened to eat here on a Tuesday. Had no idea that meant it was Taco Tuesday, but it was. All tacos are 4 bucks. Best deal in town!! Even at full price these tacos are the best deal in town. Once in a great while you stumble into a restaurant that changes your life, SoCal is one of those places. Every taco (I got 4 just because I couldn’t decide) was spectacular. So much meat the shell couldn’t close, the flavors would make you want to smack your mama. LOVED this place, I will go again if I ever get back to Tuscaloosa. Roll Tide! Just kidding not an Alabama fan, unless it is the country band. The tacos were amazing, atmosphere was amazing, and the location was easy to get to. A must try restaurant.

I love tacos, but these were below average to me. I had the fried fish taco and the Cajun shrimp taco. Just not good. The fish had a heavier breading than I expected. The shrimp were small. They make fresh crafted margaritas which are good and the service was good. I wish I had read the reviews before I went. I couldn’t eat the beans and rice on the side either.

SoCal used to be my favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa. During our last visit, we had the worst experience. To start, the salsa was horrible. Tasted like chemicals. We ordered our drinks and they took a good minute to get to our table although, there was maybe 3 other tables in the restaurant occupied and double (at least) the amount of employees working. service was slow and overall very mid. Upon receiving our food, our two tacos came with rice and bean, which would be great if they weren’t clumped together like they had been sitting in a tin all day and cold. The black beans looked like they were put in a blender and spooned out onto our plate, also cold. As we sat and ate our food which was not even brought out by our server, we were not checked on once until the end of our meal. All of the servers had been sitting and standing around the bar where their friends were sitting, eating, chatting, and OPENLY hitting their vapes the entire duration of our meal. While our tacos ultimately tasted fine, all of the other aspects made me want to never return. The prices on the menu are outrageous for the size of the drinks and food. Basic menu items like pico and guacamole are way overpriced. I’m unsure why people would choose this restaurant over other Mexican restaurants in town, and seeming how there were 3 tables full on a Friday night, I’m not sure many do

Our bartender CG was absolutely fantastic tonight!! We grabbed a few drinks before sitting at our table and she was working very hard. She was very attentive to me and my wife, even though she had three full tables of about 10 people at each and a bar top. We watched her give the same great service to everyone and make drinks at an impressive pace. She was delightful and always smiling and I still can’t believe she was able to handle us all. When we sat at our table we could see her serving another wave of people. This time it had to be at least 40, but she wasn’t breaking a sweat! She was very funny and gave us delicious drinks before we sat down. The food was also very good. We thoroughly enjoyed the vibe.

First time here and wasn’t disappointed. My waitress was really nice and made great suggestions. Everyone had been telling me to go and I finally made it. It’s a great place to go on a Sunday as not so many places are open for drinks in a Sunday evening.

came in for the first time with a group of 6 and all had a good experience. they got a table cleaned up for our group size and, even though it was empty, our server didnt hide away or forget about us. they were attentive, service was quick, pre-bussing and refills were on point. food was also very good, quick, and fresh for the late night meal. pricing was nice too and i like the daily discount specials. the two tacos i tried (~$9.5 total) were impressive and i liked the flavor and kick they had. fries were also good, served very hot which is sometimes difficult for those foods that cool down quickly. overall enjoyed the night and would come back

we went last night for date night. the service was slow even though the crowd was average.
$4 taco night is a good deal but i could not eat one of mine due to the spiciness – though it made no mention of any sauce or heat level. my bf also had a chicken taco that was pretty hot as well. overall it was just not enjoyable for dinner.
our plate of chips with leftover seasoning dumped onto the plate looked like we got the last batch, compared to other tables i saw with bowls and dips inside.
the salsa was not great and the guac was bland so i would not order it again – a big disappointment for a place that should have great food. we ate because we were hungry, but i would not return.

We were traveling and decided to try this place. We were there about an hour and a half before closing time so they weren’t super busy. We both ordered taco plates.
The service started out slow and it didn’t get any better. The waitress took our drink order. It took forever to get them and she didn’t bring straws. Then it took forever to get those. Placed our order and it was an unreasonable amount of time to wait. I think the waitress checked on us once for drinks…they had been sitting there empty.
Finally, our food arrived (approximately 50 minutes after ordering) and it was ice COLD. We had ordered two tacos but they prepared it as a taco plate with rice and beans. The beans were scaled over and looked like a small cow pie that had been sitting for a while and ran over. The rice was ice cold. Both were tiny portions. Those weren’t as big a deal as the tacos. Tacos were Ice ice cold too. Once of the tacos was a California taco and had fries on it…yep…ice cold.
It was so bad, I said something to the waitress. Her response, it can’t be, they made it fresh. So, we ate ice cold tacos. Didn’t touch the beans or rice and left one of the tacos because couldn’t do the chicken taco cold.
We were never offered a solution and when the waitress came to bring the bill was the only somewhat of an apology we received. She said they had all new staff in the kitchen and she was sorry it took so long. CLUELESS. Yes, it took a lifetime. That was bad enough but we never complained about that. We complained about the temperature of the food.
We left unhappy and won’t be back next time we travel through. It was the least busy restaurant down there at the time and maybe we should have taken that as a sign. Service was AWFUL. Food was Cold. Customer Service didn’t exist. We were sorry we stopped at this place.
