Updating my review a third time to emphasize that trying something more than once or twice can really make a huge difference. This is my favorite restaurant now. I try to get there to taste the new menu items as often as I can. I’m a regular. I cannot wait until they have their own space. I love this food & everyone that works there is down to earth and cool & attentive.

Went back again & was definitely a better experience this time around. Everything was delicious! The Laad Naa crab noodles were great, oysters fresh and the dessert was the perfect thing to finish with. The yuzu mignonette sauce for the oysters was so delicious I drank it out the sauce bowl!
I had the fruit salad in the coconut cream- it was so light, creamy, & fresh. Mint was a perfect addition- and the fruit was so sweet & ripe. My one & only complaint was the my noodles were a little undercooked& they were mushy & falling apart a bit. They were very busy in there & I personally didn’t mind it too much. Great 2nd visit though.

Good food, good time. Food was good- I expected something a little more unique than what was offered for the price & the exclusivity but I didn’t mind much because everything tasted good. The plates are a bit smaller than you’d expect but pricing isn’t so prohibitive that you can’t add on sides or add another dish. It’s more fun that way bc you get to try more. I had a lavender drink that was not exactly my jam but if you like sweet & tangy drinks it’s a good option! My partner had a Halfway Crooks beer on tap which was nice to see on the menu. Our server, Luna, was sweet & attentive. Overall, a solid & positive experience! Would return

We arrived on Sunday evening and we got there right as several others did too. The hostess took my name and number and told us about a 30 min wait. We waited outside at first on the wooden stools and then moved to the bench near Local Honey. Eventually we moved back in front of the restaurant and more and more people were arriving. When we went to check what was going on with our spot on the list, the hostess didn’t remember us or that she had taken my name and number. She claimed it wasn’t her. Talk about infuriating, no apology or even acknowledgment of what happened from her. We finally were seated and thankfully our server was awesome. We ordered several dishes and everything was delicious. The glass noodles were fresh and light, papaya salad was pungent and spicy(different than Thai papaya salad we learned from Google), steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious too. We topped off the meal with blueberry cobbler for dessert and it was great too.

No one does a Pop Up as well as So So Fed. Absolutely love their attention to detail and delicious freshly made to order meals. It’s like you are friends with someone who has a young hip Mom who is a chef and cooks for you and 55 of your closest friends. Love the constantly changing menu so each time it’s a new culinary experience. One of the best late night eats if you ever find yourself hungry on a Sunday or Monday night and surprised that somehow most places worth eating at stop serving dinner at 9pm at in Atlanta.

Man, the food at this restaurant is SO good. It’s phenomenal. When So So Fed is on its game I truly believe it’s some of the best food in Atlanta. Certainly the best Thai/Lao food anywhere within the perimeter. These chefs have that unique ability to take something that, on the surface, seems like a simply composed dish and perform some sort of magic upon it that sublimates it into something you didn’t know was possible. The eggplant, the braised pork, the som tum–these dishes are executed here at a level that is dangerous for anyone who is a casual enjoyer of these dishes from standard Thai Lao or Chinese restaurants. The dumplings–all of them–are sublime. The wrapper is perfectly thin while still strong enough to contain the filling. Smooth and delicious. You will be forever disappointed in their wake knowing what these ingredients are capable of in the hands of Chef Molli and her crew. So beware: enjoy this food but ruin the mid-range options for yourself forever.

BUT. I’m so sorry. The service here is bad. Bordering on and sometimes diving headlong into atrocious. Of the numerous times I’ve dined here, there has been more than one occasion where the host ultimately brought me water (!) because she was the first to notice that I had been unacknowledged by the server for 10+ min. I’ve had to place a drink order with that same host because a further 15 minutes passed without ever having had a moment with the server.

There is one server in particular who stands out for this atrocious service. It has happened many times. If you manage this staff I would assume you are aware of the issues and perhaps know whom I am referring to. This popup is priced comparably to trendy, capital “R”estaurant type places. The type of places that competent hospitality groups open with conceptual coherence and standards of service. This place is not and does not market itself as a hole in the wall spot on Buford Highway where the food is great, the ambiance is nil, and you shut up about the service or lack thereof. It advertises something different and brutally fails on the service front.

This issue persists: on busy nights where it would be (marginally) more understandable, to slow evenings. From a 5PM seating to a seating during the busier hours of the evening. You are rolling the dice on whether you will receive the bare minimum of adequate service any time you dine here. And by that I mean you may sit for 10 minutes with no interaction. You may sit with no water after your first glass is emptied. You may get one shot to order any beverage you intend on having throughout the night because you will receive no attention from service staff on these details after the initial interaction.

The server has no clue about the beverage selections from OK Yaki which I assume is the restaurant they normally serve for and should presumably know the bev options for.

You will be asking a food runner or host to refill your water or grab another drink from the bar (to their annoyance) because you can’t get your servers attention or find her at all.

On one occasion when dining, after being given water by the host, ordering drinks from the host, asking for condiments from a food runner (all because my server made zero attempt to engage the table) I attempted to order dessert after the meal. I was told that dessert had already been “last called”.

To who? Dessert was last called, TO THE SERVER. That last call never made its way to me as a guest, which is the purpose of a last call on dessert. The attempt to blame it on me, like I missed “last call” despite the non-existent interaction with my server, is absurd and unacceptable. Especially in conjunction with everything else.

These are recurring issues. The 4 stars given here is being generous because I do not want to negatively affect their rating.

Please do better. I bring friends here after lots of hype. I recommend to coworkers and people I meet in my own workplace. I’ve never been anything less than gushing about how good the food is. The poor service has rubbed me wrong so many times.

You have to visit and try their rotating menu! You can taste the care in each bite & the staff is super friendly! The lemongrass chicken heart skewers converted me to organ meat. They were juicy and tender, and the sauce was spicy and bright. The papaya salad was amazingly fresh, the caramel noodles were delicious and sticky, the meatballs were super tender and flavorful, and the watermelon with coconut custard and cinnamon basil was such a delight. I’d never had Laos food before & we’re definitely coming back to try more!

Takeout experience not good but this may be customer ignorance. We picked up dinner for 3 and after ordering we’re told 35-40 mins because the kitchen was slammed. Ok we can chill with plenty of time to pick up from dog daycare. One of us had just come from airport and it had been an emotional trip. So all that on us.

It took almost an hour during which we were given cold water (nice!) but the wait was stressful (“it’s just a couple minutes” but it’s not). To speed things up we paid and the 20
Percent gratuity made our meal ($82) come to $107. Maybe the hype is worth it so finally we get the food or so we thought and headed home.

The bag seemed pretty light for $107 but it’s a popup so still ok then get home and the rice is missing and the portions are flavorful but small and now two of us are eating ramen and frozen waffles.

Pix to show what $107 of food here looks like. Should I have asked to set my own gratuity? The bill came with 20
Pct and a line for adding *more*.

I want to support Atlanta pop ups but this value is not there at all.

Holy cow – this place is special. I’d never had Laotian food before, and after trying So So Fed I’m blown away that it took this long.

The food is simply spectacular. I’m not usually a fan of chicken heart, but these were so tender, juicy, and delicious that it destroyed my previous idea of what chicken hearts could be. The meatballs are mesmerizing. The stir fried noodles were incredible. Everything we ordered was just phenomenal. They’re only open two days out of the week since it’s a pop-up, but you must try this place.

This restaurant is on another level, full stop.

I absolutely love so so fed!! This is where I go when I am feeling like treating myself to something yummy. I went on a sunday evening and got the lao fried chicken, the mapo tofu dumplings, sticky rice, and the og papaya salad. The lao fried chicken was so delicious. I like sitting at the bar but have also enjoyed sitting in a booth and outside.
