The idea behind Sunset was born from friendship, years of hard work and a shared dream. Among the partners of El Patio and chef David Sánchez. We wanted to create something different, beyond traditional Mexican cuisine, something that reflected everything we´ve lived and learned over more than 30 years working in the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs. Because anyone who has spent time in Southern California knows theres something special here: The Sunsets. Sunset was created to capture that moment. Located right in the heart of Palm Canyon drive, you can’t miss this beautiful restaurant if you are walking by. The ambience of the outdoor seating catches your attention. Beautifully decorated, this is a perfect spot of date nights.
The food and drink were quite good as well with good portion sizes.
Get the outdoor rocking tables if you can. It’s a great vibe!

My wife and I had dinner at So-Cal Sunset last night, and it was off the charts awesome. The restaurant had an atmosphere that matches the decor – excellent. We sat outside and despite a nice chill in the air, there were plenty of outdoor heaters to keep us toasty. We had water in moments and wine in about 2 minutes. The service was fantastic, attentive and friendly.
I had shrimp cocktail – huge shrimp and plenty of them. My wife started with tomato basil soup. For entrees, my wife had grilled chicken and I ordered short ribs. The food was delicious and plentiful.
The price was absolutely reasonable. I would call it a value for what we enjoyed. We will absolutely be back!!!

Fantastic outdoor patio and bar with lovely ambiance. The music adds to the experience without overwhelming you. Delicious food and tasty cocktails. Very generous food portions. Staff is very friendly and happily accommodated my (annoying) requests to modify my order.

Our first time to the restaurant last night and we enjoyed it so much. The staff was so attentive and friendly. Our waitress was April and she couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food was tasty too. We were fortunate to sit in one of the swings too. Highly recommend

This was truly a lovely find, the menu was priced well. The sandwich was over over the top, Chris our waiter was on top of everything. Perfect day to sit outside in the swing and have our lunch. The drink menu was a nice touch too!

This was my third time at the restaurant since opening! The first two visits were amazing! Great service tasty hot food attentive service and reasonable prices! This weekends visit was beyond disappointing. After sitting for fifteen minutes, I asked for the server to stop by. He did so with urgency and offered great service throughout what ended up being a tragic disappointment. I ordered fish two friends ordered the burger and one ordered crab cakes. The food can out about 15 minutes after ordering. The fish and crab cakes came out first followed by the burgers. The food was warm-not hot like previous visits. The fish and crab cates weren’t even near air temp. They were both tasty but not hot enough to my liking! I called the waiter over who was very apologetic. He returned five or so minutes later and the food was no warmer-even colder than the first go around . I reluctantly called the waiter over and expressed my frustration, suggesting that he taste the food to see how unacceptable it was. I asked for the manager who came by- he was one of the owners and I explained to him how much we loved our first two experiences and could figure out why the cold came back a second time cold. He really had no explanation but apologized. He did say they were busy but it was much less busy than my two previous visits. When the food came back the third time it was still cold. I asked for the manager again and suggested that the least that could be done would have been to microwave to heat up. Though not an acceptable alternative at least it would have been edible! Now the manager was embarrassed. He told us he would comp the meal took my name and contact information and asked that we give the restaurant another try and he’d sent a gift card or certificate . I thought that demonstrated his intention to make things right. It’s been three days since our meal. Since then I’ve told a dozen people about the experience and have written my first restaurant review! I have loved this location since the days of Azul and were excited that it’s finally reopened. It’s a great environment and had potential. If I get a gift card I’ll give it another try and if I have a great experience. If not, good riddance!

Our first time here last night and we were really impressed. Cocktails were creative and yummy and the food was perfectly prepared. Portions were large and were VERY reasonable priced. Can’t remember the last time, the two of us had cocktails, an appetizer, entrees and two glasses of wine for under $150 ($138 to be exact). I have always loved this patio back to the days when it was Azul. Service was attentive without being obnoxious. Very nice evening!!

Delicious food at reasonable prices. Three of us ordered entrées and really enjoyed the fish and meatloaf. The atmosphere is lovely and the servers were all helpful, friendly, and attentive. One person in our party is a vegetarian and they only offered one entrée option, which he didn’t care for. He ordered a salad and appetizer. The arugula salad for $18 was a tiny portion (hardly suitable for a meal) and seemed highly overpriced compared to everything else on the menu. We would definitely like to come back, but hope they expand their vegetarian options.
