Well, now I’ve experienced it: the worst pizza in the world.

People say Chicago tavern style is great so I was excited to try it. It was a cracker. (I bet the crusts arrive frozen or something. There’s no way that crust was freshly made.) The sauce was not pleasant and if Wonder Bread made sausage, it would taste like the sausage on this pizza. Bland and gross.

The server was nice, but it took a long time for the drinks to arrive and an inordinately long time for the check to be taken. The kitchen got several things wrong in the orders of my dining companions. No one was happy with their meals. Plus, I got several mosquito bites on my feet and ankles. I asked if they had any bug spray and the server said no.

But the view of the water was pleasant and the drinks were cheap. I guess it’s all about priorities.

My husband and I decided to eat at the Snuggery for a mid afternoon lunch. When we arrived, we noticed the various options of dining available. They have an outdoor eating area with tables and tents as well as a spacious indoor dining area that includes a bar area. We decided to sit inside due to the weather. If you sit in the main dining area, you will have a great view of the river. We sat right by the windows which provided entertainment with all of the boats passing by. Our waitress was attentive and readily available for any questions we had about the menu. For drinks, we decided to try the frozen options. They were delicious and would be great on a hot summer day. As for food, my husband got the fish sandwich and I got the chicken wrap. The only notice about the food was the amount of fish on the sandwich. The sandwich had three tiny pieces and could have had more. Otherwise, the food was delicious and filling. We will definitely be back!

The Snuggery has lost its charm and now feels more like a simple boating stop for a quick drink. The food has declined to mediocre bar fare, the service comes with a “don’t care” attitude, and the building is a dump. If you’re driving, I’d recommend heading to downtown McHenry, where you’ll find better options.

Awesome patio right next to the river. The food has yet to disappoint every time I’ve eaten here. Service is friendly and very efficient. This place is run very well and it’s a favorite for our household.

Went during a weekend instead of a weekday for the first time. Figured it may not be a slow experience and properly staffed. Jokes on me. Slowest I’ve experienced. Threw our entire order in, so we wouldn’t have to wait for the next pass. Appetizers were taking forever, so asked the server to check on them. He informed us kitchen is backed up and he really doesn’t know when we would be getting them. I had them removed from our order. Bald manager came over and asked whether we still didn’t want them. Not why, an apology, or asking if anything else can be done. Just skeddadled when we said “no”, without saying another word. Fit the theme of the place to a T and cemented my feelings toward the establishment. Bad management. None of the staff ever seems to know what’s going on. Never appears staffed enough. Kitchen not getting food out quick enough. All because of management that couldn’t care less. Keep banking on your bingo nights with obnoxious noise, instead of addressing service issues to save this place. You lost a few more customers for your efforts.

The food was quite good and the waitstaff were super friendly. The riverside location is the cherry on top. The perfect place to spend a summer lunch break. We each had a different salad, and all were delicious.

Used to love this place. Ordered their “snuggarita”. They are premade so don’t order. No tequila, had to order 2 shots to actually taste any tequila. Pic of cheeseburger and fries, glad they didn’t go overboard and give me too many fries…last pic is their surcharge on top of their weak ass drinks. Service was great but this place is trash now.

My friend and I tried this little gem on the river. The outdoor patio was neat and clean! Every table had a great view of the river. We loved the music which was the perfect level. We could hear each other without yelling.
Our server was sweet and attentive. The food portions were generous. The prices very reasonable.
It was a gorgeous day. We never felt rushed. We are looking forward to coming back soon!

Went to Snuggery for an early dinner and we sat outside. We truly enjoyed our dinners and the beautiful river view (Jack Daniels Burger, Avocado Chicken Sandwich, and the Fish & Chips). The fries were delicious as well, but their wine prices are a bit “pricey”. Since dinner was so good, we went back the following evening just for cocktails to sit outside around 9pm. The weather was beautiful…but OH MY GOSH. The mosquitoes were ferocious! I asked if they sprayed for them and the answer was no, thus we had to move inside. Then the kicker was leaving at 10pm in the dark to the parking lot. We waited at the crosswalk, it was clear and we proceeded across River Road. Out of NO WHERE this car FLEW THROUGH the crosswalk SUPER FAST causing 2 of us to RUN forward and one of us to run backwards. I screamed at the driver every expletive in the book, and then yelled back at the restaurant to FIX THIS PROBLEM! Now I know it is not the Snuggery’s fault for stupid @ss drivers, but they are responsible to get their patrons safely to the designated restaurant parking lot. There is a HUGE problem here. Snuggery…maybe you need a REFLECTIVE Crossing Guard with a neon reflective STOP sign like we all had in grade school…just something MORE than what you are providing right now BEFORE someone gets really hurt who can’t run or move fast like we had to!

So disappointed tonight. We usually love their salads and I was craving a good Caesar so we decided to get pizza and this. $11 for very little lettuce, and what we did receive was slimy and/or brown. I don’t think I’ll be craving another Caesar for some time. Do better Moretti’s. Take out should be the same quality as if we were eating in.
