I’m staying in Rutland for a ski trip & was craving sushi after a day at the mountain. There was a pretty good selection, different combos & seaweed salad. The variety I bought had at least 4 different types! It was very fresh tasting, I will def get some again if I’m back for another ski trip.

I love the Bento Sushi located in Hannaford. Its always fresh and the selection is great! Such an easy grab and go lunch when my day is busy. The prices are great for rather large rolls. I love the green dragon roll and highly recommend giving it a try if you enjoy avocados.

I used to eat this often.

What turned me off *forever*, happened around January or February this year.

I picked up a Cucumber Roll, ate it for dinner at home. After finishing, I felt off, but thought I ate too much. 2-4 hours later, I was *violently* sick. Constant pain, throwing up regularly every 30 mins!

I wondered how it could have been bad – there was no fish!
Then I remembered something I picked up about rice dishes – cooked rice not kept properly grows bacteria QUICKLY!

It’s called Bacillus Cereus, or “Fried Rice Syndrome” (I didn’t pick the name).
Typically this kind of food poisoning lasts only 24 hours – I was ill for 5 days, keeping *nothing* down; eventually an ER visit for IV fluids due to dehydration was made. I got the strongest anti-emetic possible, and FINALLY started to get better.

I lost 25 lbs all told; from being sick and completely unable to eat a thing for nearly a week. I can’t go near sushi now – unless I can SEE IT MADE, and know an irresponsible cook left the rice out. An expert Sushi Chef (which I learned trains up to 5 years in Japan, but possibly only a MONTH in the USA) would know better than this.

Unfortunately the boxes aren’t labeled by who prepares them – nobody is accountable. I’m sure the myriad of cooks there are mostly FINE – but don’t take the chance of getting food from someone with no common sense.

Don’t eat this sushi – Hannaford clearly only asks “can you make sushi” and not “what are your qualifications?”

This is just a cooler case inside the Hannaford. Ok sushi, standard supermarket fare.
