This is the definition of a “hole in the wall” The food was awesome and delicious. The flavors remind me of the classic Mr. & Mrs. G food. If you want some fresh, hot dinner then this is your place to come to. Will definitely be back to try the wings and pork chops. The fish plate was to die for…hot and flaky, tasted like it has just been caught and fried. For dessert they have many options, I had the banana pudding. While the serving may have been a little small, the little bowl was full of delicious flavor. You need to do yourself a favor and try the meatloaf had a great taste to it and the mashed potatoes are very flavorful as well. Do yourself a favor and drive down here and get yourself some home cooking!

Food was delicious and came out hot! definitely cooked to order. Lemon pepper wings and catfish best I’ve had in SA. My wife’s smothered pork chops cook perfectly with a homemade brown gravy easily top tier comfort food. Would highly recommend a stop by. We drove from across town and was well worth the drive. Every side we had was delicious (we tried a lot) don’t skip on the kool-aid !

I was SO excited to come across a soul food restaurant within 2 miles from the truck stop I was at, Petro. A small, colorful, soulful little spot in San Antonio. The staff was very friendly. I wanted to try a few things. They sold out of the meatloaf 🙁 so I got the lemon peppered wings (SO Good) and the smothered pork chops. (Also very tasty). I haven’t had pork chops in years, and that bit of comfort food put a familiar smile on my face and a happy dance in my heart. The sides where my favorite. From the flavorful mashed potatoes. To the sweet yams, nicely flavored greens, creamy Mac and cheese AND THAT Cheesy broccoli Casserole YUM!!! I can’t wait until I am back in San Antonio so I can try the meatloaf and desserts. Thank you for the hospitality and Great food. I will return.

The atmosphere was lacking. It a hole in the wall. The fried fish was served hot and it was delicious. The broccoli cheese was creamy and very good. The pork chops were tender with very good taste. The corn bread was a joke it was a mini cupcake. The place look dirty and I needed to ask for a towel to clean my table. Portion was generious and a good price point but I not sure I will return.

Definitely the highlight of my drive through the area. This spot has been in my view for a minute, but finally visited since already in the area and sure glad I did. All components of my meal were excellent. The sides seasoned and creamy, and the chops and wings full of flavor. Even had some good banana pudding which is a rarity for many of the places that I have visited. It’s been a while, but glad to give them my coveted “Certified Mad Good ” rating. Well done

Absolutely delicious!! Catfish was cooked perfectly and seasoned! Our other plate had cabbage, broccoli casserole, and banana pudding! Everything was great just like the customer service! Be prepared to wait because everything is fresh! Worth the drive from Culebra!! Definitely coming back!!!

Prompt friendly service. Food was hot fresh and delicious! Large shareable portions. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. 10 out of 10! We had two meat plate with fried chicken and fish with yams, greens, dirty rice with mac and cheese! All were delicious!!!

Everything was amazing! I had the catfish with cheesy broccoli rice, mac and cheese, cabbage and kool-aid. The cornbread came with the plate and it had a nice spice and texture to it. They give you large portions of fish. My friends and I loved every bite! I can’t wait to go back. Pictured is catfish and pork chop plates.

Fried Pork Chops and the Catfish plate are off the chart! Hot, hot, hot food. Best to pickup. Cash and some app to pay. But all in all great comfort food. I caught Kens5 news report on this restaurant and it was worth every penny. Was not crazy about the Chicken Fried Steak. Greens, Sweet potatoes and Mac n cheese was sooo good.

Great customer service. Food is made to order and it smells delicious in here. I thought my granny was in the kitchen frying those porkchops. Absolutely delicious and a must try. The fried chicken wings and that fish will have you ready to fight someone. Good place to enjoy some down home soul food. Cabbage was on point and that broccoli cheese casserole is a must try.
