The Snack Bar is my favorite restaurant in Mississippi! I live about 2.5 hours away. My brother lives in Oxford and works at The University of Mississippi. When I visit he goes ahead and makes a reservation at The Snack Bar. Tonight’s experience was faultless. Every thing they brought was creative and inspired. I had the Pan Roasted Poulet Rouge. It was topped with a cucumber ribbon salad and served over black beans & fried okra. I don’t even like okra and this was sublime. Thanks to all who helped out tonight, especially our server Johnny.

15/10!! Went for brunch at Big Bad Breakfast and was lucky enough to be sat at Snackbar. Maggie and Trip were awesome and made us feel so welcomed, they shared the Snackbar menu and we decided to go back for dinner. Every single thing we ate and drank, and every employee we interacted with was top notch. Some of the best oysters we’ve ever had, the mushrooms and French onion soup were phenomenal and the whiskey sours were some of the best I’ve ever had. It was the highlight of the trip, literally cannot wait to go back!

Enjoyed our visit here. I thought for a place called the Snackbar, it would be a casual spot, but it’s a bit fancy on the inside. They have animal heads on the walls. It was also a bit pricier than I thought it would be. Ordered the oysters, which were fantastic as was the catfish dish. Drinks were pretty good as well. The staff was super friendly and attentive to our needs.

The atmosphere and the vibe is great….humming. the bar area has communal seating and had few booths. The main dining area have all tables (may be a few booths… don’t remember). The food is out of this world. The chef “really” knows what he is doing by infusing just the right amount of some South Asian spices to the food to take it to the next level.
Wish we had a restaurant like that in Nashville.

Very disappointing. We are local residents. It seems with Vish leaving so too did the high standards of preparation and taste. Appetizers included the French onion soup, which was excellent, but the Tarte Tartin was not to standard. The onion was tough and tasteless; the pastry was soggy and there was no goat cheese. Chicken thighs were prepared well and tender but the *slaw* in top was tasteless, and they used the core of the cabbage which was inedible. The long grain rice was a tasteless clumpy mess, and the mixed vegetable bed was simply tasteless. The crab cakes were tasty, but were mushy, not lump. The chocolate Chess Pie was dry and crusty. Next time we will just go to the Oyster Bar and drink before going to some other place in town with better food.

The Snack Bar in Oxford, MS, truly deserves a 5-star review. The atmosphere is inviting, the food is exceptional, and the service is top-notch. From the creative menu to the expertly prepared dishes, every detail is handled with care. The entrees we ordered, including the Prime Ribeye Heart, Black Eye Pea Flour-Fried Catfish, Grilled Redfish, and Smoked Pork Tenderloin, were all outstanding, showcasing expert preparation and rich flavors. The cocktails complemented the meal perfectly, rounding out a fantastic evening. Highly recommend for an exceptional meal in Oxford! Reservations are a must; after all, it is in Oxford and it was an Ole Miss “move-in” weekend!

I have frequented Snackbar for the past several years for happy hours, quick cocktail stops, and to get my fill of oysters! I can only speak on my experience at the bar, which has been excellent. I love browsing the cocktail menu, which has a great variety. I have tried many of their cocktails and they are well-made and flavorful. Their appetizers are good – a memorable one is the fried artichokes! The oyster experience at the bar is great – the bartenders are knowledgeable about the variety of oysters they have, as it changes frequently, and you can request them raw or charbroiled (the latter being my favorite). Servers are friendly and efficient.

Beautiful restaurant and amazing bar! We visited this location during happy hour and we loved it! The bartenders are really pofessional and incredible at their jobs! They can prepare many specialty cocktails and listen to special requests for drinks. If you ask, they can also provide many great recommendations! It’s an upscale location, but happy hour prices are unbeatable! Highly recommend!
