We went at 8 pm on a Monday. The place didn’t seem full, yet there was only one person at the front, who was both taking a phone order, checking people out after their meal, and asking about seating. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes to be seated.

The food was good. We tried the small combination plate, the smothered fries, and the steak pasta, which was a special not in the menu. The fries were huge and the price was less than $10. They were very good. The steak pasta at $16 was also exceptional, and unexpected for a mexican restaurant. The combination plate also tasted good, but nothing special.

Will I return again? Probably will.

We had lunch here this Saturday. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer, it was very good! I ordered the chicken taco salad as my main. It came with so much chicken. definitely a great value and tasted very good. My partner ordered the smothered burrito, they said it was also good. We will definitely be back! Sorry the photo of the salad was after I mixed everything up.

The service was excellent, the chips and salsa were delicious, the food was very reasonably priced and high quality in my opinion. The cheese enchiladas were as good as anywhere else I’ve tried in Utah. I’ll definitely be coming back. We came for dinner but noticed the lunch menu has some great options so we’ll probably try lunch next time. Highly recommend

Went to the smothered burrito tonight with the family. We each ordered what is in the pictures.

To start off the chips and salsa were underwhelming. Salsa was salty, chips were stale and not great.

We all ordered water and it tasted like it came straight from the tap. Adding in a lemon made it better.

The food was mediocre at best. I personally think the food was better when it was La Luna, even though they have retained the same cooks…The chile verde was pretty spicy, it made my face and neck turn red. All the other food was again mediocre.

Service was fast, friendly, and good.

Don’t think we will go back, unfortunately.

Great place to grab some yummy Mexican food! Absolutely loved it — family-friendly, affordable, and the service was great.

Side note: I noticed employees are allowed to have their children there, which I completely understand — life is busy, and it’s wonderful when a workplace can also be a safe space for family.

That said, it was a bit distracting at times as the little ones (around ages 2–5) were left at a table unattended and got a bit loud, jumping on seats and then running around on the other side when the father was getting ready to leave. They were adorable, but it did take away from the atmosphere a bit.

Time and place are everything — and teaching little ones manners early on goes a long way. Still, overall, I’d definitely come back for the food and friendly service

I have visited Smothered Burrito a few times now. I recently saw a TikTok with the owner and saw the he suggested people try his pasta. I tried the steak pasta and it was AMAZING!! I can’t wait to try the shrimp pasta. Everyone that goes here should definitely order the pasta

To say I wish I could give 0 stars if I could would be a complete understatement. The fact that this place has any good reviews is concerning. A review 3 weeks before mine mentioned the salsa for the chips was really salty.
When we got it, my fiancé and I both agreed it tasted like tomato paste of of the can with some water added to it to thin it out a bit. It was disgusting. I got a taco salad. There was almost no meat in it and the shell it was in was stale and had a really weird aftertaste.
My boyfriend got a steak fajita quesadilla and it was more peppers than steak. The steak was super chewy because of how many tendons were in each piece. We got two margaritas and I know it’s an Utah thing, but it’s still annoying, but we got syrup and water. We paid extra for one shot each for us to put in our drinks for it to taste like a margarita.
It was also very concerning how quickly our food was brought in. We ordered and not even a full 7 minutes later, we had the food and it wasn’t super hot, right off the grill.
All around, to claim this is “authentic Mexican food” is a slap in the face to people that pour their love into their food or care about providing at least acceptable food. $60 definitely not worth it.

We didn’t finish any of food. My fiancé asked for a box to go with his quesadilla to not cause a scene because he felt bad. We ended up going down the street to chilis. Utah needs to higher their standards because eating out anywhere here is ridiculous.

Another great visit to smothered burrito! I got the steak fajita quesadilla smothered in green chili and cheese and oh man, heaven ! Everything was great! The chips were PERFECTLY seasoned, the salsa was great! Just enough of a kick. And the green chili, PERFECT spice level, just the way I like it! Idk maybe some people can’t handle the spice but it doesn’t mean it’s not good. Smothered burrito is the restaurant my family and I immediately think of when we want a night out. The staff is always so friendly and attentive. Also the chile rellenos smothered in green chili are Amazing, and the fajita plate. Delicious! Looking forward to my next visit.

Ordered the chicken fajiita quesadilla and received what can only be described as a large chicken soft taco. The quesadilla was not smushed together nor cut into pieces. It was literally built like a soft taco with just cheese and chicken. It said it came with sour cream and guac, so when it arrived with none, I inquired. They brought me a to-go tube of daisy sour cream. Then charged me for it. Unfortunately I was in too much shock and didn’t get a photo.
No thanks. Never again.

We went on a Friday and it didn’t takeong to get us in. Service was pretty fast and food was good. I wouldn’t say it was exceptional food but it was good standard Mexican food and it came out fast after we ordered it. The place was clean (although the bathrooms could use some sprucing up).

I would eat there again if my family wanted to go but it’s not a place I would go out of my way to get food from.
