What really sets this place apart though is the owner. He always makes sure his customers are taken care of and genuinely cares about the experience. That kind of service makes you want to keep coming back.
The tacos are loaded, fresh, and absolutely delicious (the picture says it all ). If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful tacos with great customer service, Smokey Tacos is a must-try!
I would recommend eating there, I can see that I lost a little bit of the flavor taking it to go, but I will go again!
We were the first ones in at the moment and the owner whom I didn’t get his name, talked to us through the process of how everything is made. He is dope to talk to and can tell his energy is genuine.
Now for the moment of truth.
We got the two new York tacos, 1 asada and 1 Lengua. Two huge bottles of homemade salsa also came through. You bet I also got to try their homemade aguas frescas: tamarindo, horchata and jamaica.
Tamarindo was delicious, but just a little too sweet for my taste. The horchata was fine, and the Jamaica was just as delicious but not as sweet as the tamarindo.
Winner winner was the Jamaica!
New York tacos were medium done and mouth watering. The lengua was one of the best lengua tacos I’ve had in Tri, and in my opinion, the asada taco was the star of the night. That son of a biscuit was flavorful, smoky, and simply melted in my mouth. They are regular sized homemade tortilla tacos, so not street style size here.
Yes these are pricier than your normal taco spot, but if you ask me I would rather pay extra for some bomb.com tacos that are legit than just filling up on decent tacos with “lettuce.”
Bonus points for hooking us up with a bean taco and those refried beans were chefs kiss. It took me back to my mommas’s house making me lunch with some bean tacos.
Maybe “si dios quiere” as my mom would say, a burrito will show up on the menu in the future for the burrito lovers out there cause DAMN those meats on a burrito?!?! Sign me UP.
Anyway thanks for joining my review and hope to come here soon for sure.
