Rhinebeck’s Smoky Rock BBQ winner of the 2022 Best Pastrami, 2021 Best Brisket & 2019 Best Smoked Ribs in the Hudson Valley. Smoky Rock BBQ – 1st Original Style BBQ. We smoke 2 different cuts of ribs, St. Louis and Baby Back. We make our unique three variety dry rubs and brines for our homemade pastrami, pork belly, and maple smoked ham. We also smoke our chicken, sausage, turkey, duck, brisket, pork belly and pastrami. All of the meat is farm raised, grass-fed and freshly prepared in house. The flavor that hardwood smoke provides our meats by using hickory, cherry, apple and maple is like no other! We created the first original NY Style BBQ here in the Hudson Valley and take great pride in it. Come in for a taste and you’ll see why.

One of the best meals I have ever had (without exaggeration)! Stopped here passing by on the 4th of July having driven further upstate and looking for a local area BBQ place open on a holiday en route home. What a fantastic find. I ordered the NY handcrafted pastrami sandwich – wow!!! The pastrami was delicious and cooked to perfection, holding together but melting away when cut with a fork. The perfect balance of bite and soft. And enough fat to retain the wonderful flavor whereas a too-lean pastrami loses it. The brioche bun was super soft and the perfect accompaniment to the meat, and lightly slathered with the right amount of mustard to enhance the flavor not distract from it. Also hit the jackpot selecting sweet potato fries as the side. Best ever – and with a beautiful maple dipping sauce that was not overpowering but delightfully sweet. The service was impeccable. Very friendly waitstaff and attentive. Great atmosphere and vibe inside, and the outdoor dining area looks very fun as well. Absolutely returning here and immediately telling people what a phenomenal experience I had.

Easily one of the best smoky barbecue I’ve ever had. I shared the 3 meats and 3 sides combo with my boyfriend and it was spectacular!!! For meats, we had the pastrami, smoked ribs, and brisket, and for sides, we had the sweet potato fries, mash potatoes w/ gravy, and blue cheese coleslaw. It was absolutely exceptional. You could see the smoke ring on the brisket, the smoky ribs fell off the bone, and whatever brine they use is just out of this world. As for the sides, the sauce that came with the sweet potato fries was like nothing I had before, the blue cheese coleslaw too. The mash potato was so silky and smooth. In terms of service, phenomenal. The waitress was incredibly personable and helpful. Left this place with a huge smile and a big belly.

Our experience here was all around amazing! The food was absolutely incredible, best bbq in the Hudson Valley by far. We sat on their beautiful (and dog friendly) patio in our own little tented area that felt really nice and private. The service was so friendly and quick! It’s a little bit of a far drive from us but definitely worth it and we will be back ☺️

Had a very nice lunch with my dad at Smoky Rock today. They have off street parking and their outdoor dining was really nice. You could tell they were down 2-3 servers or bus people, but they were still doing their best, and were very friendly. We got brisket, sausage, baby back ribs, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans. All very good. The sides were especially delicious. Great beer list, and tons of exciting desserts. Definitely recommend stopping by on your day trip to Rhinebeck!

Smoky Rock BBQ was a wonderful new BBQ joint to visit on this amazing Saturday! We were lucky enough to come in one of their outdoor seating pods… Look like clear igloos! So fun! Our server was very good, answered questions, brought drinks and anything we asked for promptly, and was delightfully cheerful. The food… The star of the show at Smoky Rock… First, presentation was to notch, everything looked amazing! Flavors were also amazing. We had smoked chicken (a little dry but very tasty) brisket ends YUM, and pastrami yum… The sides were all great that we had, cornbread (toasted) sweet potato fries, beans, and blue cheese cole slaw. I also enjoyed a gingerbread cookie martini and a flaming cider drink. Both were yummy!

Absolutely one of the best barbecue meals I’ve ever had! The brisket, turkey, and pulled pork were expertly prepared, with just the right amount of smokiness and flavor. The meats were tender and juicy, and the sides were phenomenal as well! (Get the blue cheese coleslaw — it is out of this world!) We will definitely be returning many times!
