The sides are so fresh and homemade. I am not a big fan of mc n cheese but Omg this one is just so good
The JoJo potatoes too and the street corn
I just don’t have the words to describe it.
It just has been a while that I haven’t found a place like this, cozy, fresh, homemade , delicious, is just …
Please try it out if you are over here
This is the perfect food for recovery after a long day of hiking
We came into Mariposa around 1 pm looking for a place with good food and maybe a beer . Smokin’ Oak BBQ looked like it would work, and it did not disappoint! Well worth the stop!
We ordered a 3 meat BBQ platter, but for beer we needed to go next door to the Twisted Cedar Local Tap House, which is connected with the Smokin’ Oak. This is convenient, as both businesses feed customers to each other. There was outside seating in front of the Smokin’ Oak or indoor seating (6 tables) at the Twisted Cedar; we opted for indoor seating. The guys in the Smokin’ Oak cheerily took our order stating they’d deliver it to where we were sitting.
The Twisted Cedar had a variety of beers, but only three on tap. Through the friendly, vivacious beer tendress, my wife discovered that they also had a variety of meads. She ordered a flight of mead while I opted for the pilsner (I was driving…). The flight of mead had 4 very interesting varieties of mead: tropical, berry, apple, and regular. My wife liked them all, but preferred the apple and berry.
Our BBQ was delivered to our table, and we dug in to brisket (Yum!), tri-tip (Yum!), chicken (Yum!), coleslaw (good [I’m a slaw snob…]), and potato wedges (Yum!). There were 4 different types of sauces to enjoy with the BBQ (Yum!). The pilsner went very well with the food, as did the mead. My wife also had a red ale, which was good.
We left very satisfied with our meal, service, and drink. If you’re ever in Mariposa looking for a good place to eat, you can’t go wrong with BBQ from the Smokin’ Oak and drinks from the Twisted Cedar.
It’s disappointing when a simple request is met with an unwelcoming attitude—especially from a place that otherwise has such a good reputation. I love BBQ and was planning to eat here while staying in the area, but because of her unwillingness to help, I’ll find somewhere else to eat.
It was our first time here, and I’ve already recommended this place to all my friends in the area. The customer service was outstanding, and the sauces were incredible, the house sauce, Cali sauce, and honey mustard were all absolutely amazing
Thank you so much! We will definitely be coming back
