First off, I was lured in by the smell of smoke from Post Oak wood burning, which smelled amazing. Once I got there, I noticed the cook Mike was super cool and had very good energy, As far as the food it looked pretty good but in my honest opinion, the $12 brisket sandwich had mediocre flavor and was also dry. The $15 ½ slab of ribs had an unpleasant foul odor too. I’m not sure if the meat was cooked today, but I couldn’t gather enough courage to put any of the rib in my mouth, so I trashed it all in disappointment, it was that bad. Maybe just a bad day, but bbq is too expensive to be wasting money of bad food. Needless to say, I will not be coming back for seconds!

Smokin’ Mikes is an unassuming street corner popup barbecue restaurant. At first glance, it’s the kind of place you’d normally drive past: Spray painted signs, obviously a low budget setup. But if you slow down, your nose will pick up the tantalizing smell of grilled and smoked meat, and will guide you to pull over. There you’ll notice chef/owner Mike, and you’ll realize that this is the real deal. Authentic grilled and smoked meat by a meat lover, for meat lovers. No frills, but they’re not necessary.

The brisket sandwich is delicious. Tender and juicy meat with just the right amount of BBQ sauce.

When you watch Mike work you can tell he’s a professional and really cares about providing the best (and most delicious) product possible.

Pro-tip 1: Try all the meats. They’re all differently delicious. Try them with and without sauce so you can appreciate both the combination of flavors and the meats innate flavor.
Pro-tip 2: Get a brownie.
