Legit this local BBQ spot! The smoked meats were tender and full of flavor, and the sauces hit just right — not too sweet, not too spicy. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. You can tell they put real heart into what they do.

After being stuck in traffic for over two hours and missing a work dinner, I found this place online and decided to give it a try. After another 20 minutes of driving down rural, country roads I made it to Smokin Barrel at about 7:15. The doors were locked and the staff inside didn’t even look my way while I stood outside in the freezing cold, tapping on the big glass window of a restaurant that said they closed at 8 pm on google my business.
You might want to call ahead to make sure they are going to stay open until you can make it there.

First time yesterday, and it was pretty average. They were out of rib tips and hushpuppies, so I got a half rack instead. Lots of fat, no sauce added, flavor was decent but not amazing. Fries were basic, cole slaw was not great. This place is so hyped up, so what am I missing? The sauce was also very thin and runny. Bbq sauce should be thick! I like giving local places a chance, but most of the time, big chain restaurants have better food.

We had a really great experience! It’s not often the owner of a business actually comes up and interacts with the customers. CJ made us feel so welcome and at home. The food was awesome and was ready very quickly. Great food, great service, and the place itself was really cool. And as a bonus, they had great Jesus t-shirts, which is quite unique and unexpected in today’s world. Very awesome place!!

We do takeout from this location nearly weekly. The food is phenomenal! The pulled pork with sweet sauce and the sliced brisket are our meat faves, but we’ve GOT to mention the SIDES! Our favorites are the corn casserole(like Grandma used to make), macaroni and cheese, perfectly seasoned fries and treat yourself with some delicious banana pudding.
*PLEASE bring CASH to tip the hard-working young people who are always prompt, precise and polite. The 1st couple of visits I didn’t realize tips were cash only and felt awful because even with a carryout order, the service was great.

Food is always good here. I love the smoked brisket and sides. Their sauces are good too. BBQ in Indy and surrounding areas tend to be pricey and they are on par with other places we’ve been. It’s a family owned and run business. The staff is always nice and having options to grab from their German Church Rd location or eat-in in New Pal is a plus.

My family and I stopped by for dinner. Some had the pulled pork and some had the brisket. Everyone decided both were delicious. We came later in the evening so not all the sides were available. The restaurant is decorated in a nice Hoosier way. Looking forward to returning.

I got the brisket dinner with sliced brisket and it was really good and tears apart easily. I got banana pudding which I didn’t get a picture of because it was so good . I don’t care for the green beans. I don’t like the seasoning but the Mac & cheese was on point. I will definitely be back. The sweet sauce was good too.

The brisket tacos are amazing! The toppings are fresh & the meat so flavorful! The side dishes are reminiscent of southern home cooking. The staff is genuinely very friendly & I love, love the atmosphere/decorations. It all gives that small-town home feeling.
