Fries and tots are not cooked fresh (my order was out just a couple minutes after I placed it and they were warm, but not hot or crispy.) Still pretty good though.
There’s an upcharge for mac and cheese as a side – it tasted like it was from a box and was so mushy the noodles were only tiny pieces. I thought it might have been an off day the first time i got it but this was my second attempt and I won’t be getting that again.
BBQ. Some do it well. This is one that does it well. Caught between time for lunch and dinner, I was hungry and ate mid-afternoon. Food was still very fresh and delicious. Danny was friendly and efficient in taking my order. Menu isn’t too vast which I count as a positive. BBQ was firm and moist, bun was fresh, and sauce was perfect East Tennessee BBQ sauce. Only thing I missed was a few jalapeños which they may actually have but I didn’t ask. My side was baked beans, and again, they were also delicious. Very quaint setting in the small town of Mt. Carmel. Worth the trip if you’re in the area!
I got the Way Mo Platter and order of pork rinds.
The brisket is tender, thick, deliciously smoked, and not too fatty…
The pulled chicken is fantastic …
Baked beans are sweet, smoky, and served hot…
Pork rinds are warm, fresh, and delicious with the seasoning….
Caleb behind the scenes knows what he’s doing!
Service was outstanding. Young ladies at the counter were very kind and helpful.
It’s a bbq restaurant so grading based on service or whatever is kinda pointless, I don’t think any bbq restaurant is winning any awards on that, but friendly people and a very very clean dining area and yada yada, I’ll get to the good part.
I got the brisket plate, a little on the pricy side for 3 pieces and two sides, but honestly not a big deal. Brisket was a little on the dry side, but paired real well with the sauce provided on the table. Pass in my book but not something I’m gonna crave anytime soon, the pork rinds on the other hand were a slam dunk 10/10, fries ain’t bringing home any trophies but they were better than most fries I’ve had. So my meal overall was pretty good, I liked it.
Okay, Now for the bad part. Girlfriend got the bbq baked potato, and let me tell you this thing was like a football, huge, massive, I’ve seen newborn babies the size of this potato. So a big plus on the portion size, and the pork was quite good on top. But, and I think I might be a little harsh on this part but bear with me for a moment, why, why, why on Gods beautiful creation called Earth was this football size potato absolutely hosed down with canned nacho cheese? The pork was so good, and the sauce and the portion and everything else was so so good, why ruin an otherwise excellent meal by treating that beautiful potato like target practice for a nacho cheese gun, when just half a handful of shredded cheese would be so much better. It’s like saying Starry Night needed warmer colors, or the Roman statues needed clothes, or something like that. Anyway you should get my point.
Anyhow, I liked my meal, but a big disappointment on the potato, probably will go back for the pork rinds
