After a poor experience with Smokey Bones in Cheektowaga (now closed), I decided to give Smokey Bones and another try in Erie. And I absolutely loved everything. The food, the service, the atmosphere. Everything was perfect. We were seated and our server was very friendly and attentive. We started with the BBQ MAG NACHO, which caught my attention on the menu. I wish I had ordered the larger portion after just taking one nacho. It blew me away. That’s definitely something I’d recommend everyone for appetizers. I also got the DOUBLE STACK BURGER and paid extra to have my fries loaded. Again, it was delicious. The burger came out with a knife stabbed into it, some extra burger veggies on the side, and the loaded fries with a generous amount of cheese sauce. Everything about the burger and loaded fries was amazing, the only small complaint I have is that both of our burgers were slightly overcooked. We had both requested medium but got it almost well done. But because of how perfect everything else was, it made me ignore that. Oh, and if you’ve never been to Smokey Bones before, they have salt and pepper as well as many varieties of BBQ sauce on the table. It was amazing with the burger. Definitely try a little bit of each to fin your favorite one. Definitely looking forward to coming back if I ever stop in Erie again!

Food was excellent except my baked potato wasn’t hot at all. I strongly recommend getting the baby back ribs and not the less expensive ribs as those are far tougher and don’t have nearly as much meat to them. Th delicious fall off the bone meat is with the baby backs. Service was good. Meal came quickly

Yikes. Where do I start. The good: smoked wings were edible. Ends there

The bad: my “old fashioned” was whiskey with an orange and a cherry. Missing a few ingredients. Bartender had the personality of a dead fly. Pour was the bare minimum corporate restaurant pour.. you made less money being greedy aka I stopped drinking and went to support a local joint.

The worst: BRISKET OF MY LIFE. Weapons grade dogfood (see pic). I’ve never had brisket that crumbled from heat lamp abuse. What did that poor dead cow do to you?

Edit to respond to the cut and paste they responded with: No. This stays as a warning to anyone that expects decent bbq. I don’t want a free meal after charging me $28 for a small amount of trash brisket.

The atmosphere seemed nice but I was only there for a pick up order. The service was good, the workers were friendly and polite and quick, but the brisket is what I ordered, and it was 37.51. I was thinking it would feed 3 people two times for lunch on sandwiches and since this was 2 days before Christmas I was trying to plan ahead because of places being closed and closing early. It was half fat half meat. The meat was good, but come on now….. for that price I should be able to eat all of what I paid for. I don’t eat just fat

We ordered full ribs with sides, an extra meat, a three-meat dinner, plus wings. First red flag: brisket isn’t included with their 2- or 3-meat plates unless you pay an extra $5+ upcharge. Fine — we paid it.
Then after waiting about 20 minutes, they tell us they’re out of brisket. As a replacement, they sent us home with small container of banana pudding in the order.
The wings were genuinely bad — and that’s coming from someone who loves wings and rarely complains. Even after waiting another 30+ minutes, they weren’t worth it. The baked potato wasn’t cooked through. Ribs were underwhelming. Nothing really stood out in a good way.
My other half almost never complains about food, and he didn’t like anything on his plate either — especially the wings, which says a lot.
I don’t only post the good experiences. I really wanted this to be great, especially for what we spent. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t.

I debated whether to write a review at all, but I was genuinely disappointed with my experience—at least when it came to the food. I ordered the “Bone Fire” and added brisket and mac & cheese. As a Texan and someone who knows BBQ, I was excited to try it based on the strong reviews and photos online. Unfortunately, what I got didn’t live up to the hype.

Breaking it down item by item—because almost everything had an issue—the brisket was completely dry, like it had been cooked a day or two before and reheated in a microwave. Same story with the ribs, sausage, and steak. The steak fries were so blackened I didn’t even recognize them as fries until I took a bite. Once I did, it was clear they’d been refried—edible, but not overly enjoyable.

The chicken might have been fresh, but it was still dry. The only real highlights were the peppers and the wings—they were actually decent. The mac & cheese was just that—mac & cheese. Nothing memorable, but not bad either. I managed to eat those and the steak fries, but that was about all I could get down.

Maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen, but for over $60, I felt pretty ripped off. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is because the staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. But based on the food alone, I seriously doubt I’ll be back.

Went for lunch and got the chicken and pork nachos . Was nice in size and value was not super flavorful but added some of the BBQ sauce that they have at the table (which I really like that they have them at the table like that) and it elevated the nachos taste very nicely. We really liked how spacious it feels and not like your sitting on your fellow dinors laps The waitress was attentive but not overly which was nice. The price wasn’t too bad pretty comparable to other restaurants in that area. Overall looking forward to going back to try some new items.

If you like smoke this is a very very smoke focused meal…too much for my liking…it was 7 30pm we walk in and got served right away, but no silverware, we ordered an appetizer and got it after we got the meal. I had to go up to the bar and get someone to get our table silverware…just not an overall good time
