I feel a little bad because I was recently reminiscing on the food I had from Smokey Bandit to some family members, and when I checked Google Maps, I came to realize I’ve never given this place a public written review. Let me tell you something, I stumbled upon this place with my Mom in April of 2024, and despite me not getting over there for a while, I STILL rave about it. I did take pictures and always meant to write this, so I figured better late than never.
Smokey Bandit is your definition of hole-in-the-wall. It shares the building with American Legion, and did offer seating inside there, but we chose to sit at the cute picnic table area! The owner was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He was telling us about his small business journey and it was so inspiring to see, especially as I’m someone who grew up in the south and find myself missing the true southern charm in barbecue; it’s too hard to find in the north, but here, this is the place for it! The barbecue was tender and juicy and the sauce was smoky and sweet and just well-rounded. The mac and cheese was incredible and the beans were rich and saucy. The cornbread, though, oh my gosh. It was soft and buttery and balanced. The coleslaw was fresh, crunchy and creamy. And the PECAN PIE- sweet caramelly, gooey goodness. I gotta plan my visit back here, of course. And I can’t reccomend MORE that you do the same! You just gotta have it.

Glad we stopped by! The pulled chicken is sneaky good, don’t overlook it. Ribs when paired with the sauce are “best in the area”. Loved my pulled pork sandwich and the brisket as well! Was worried the mac n cheese could be bland, but it was flavorful. Collard greens had bacon hunks in it which was a yummy surprise.

Great hidden little gem! Don’t let the outside throw you off just walk in. They are so friendly especially Lisa, she was awesome! I ordered the pulled pork meal with baked beans, slaw, corn bread and it was all so good. The pork was very tender and juicy. The side are huge and I mean huge. I got like a bucket of slaw and beans. My wife got the ribs and they were good too. Just know they are a dry rub still. She got a bucket of Mac and cheese that was also terrific considering I’m not even a fan of Mac and cheese. In the end the service from Lisa just crushed it! She knew history about the building and was a delight to talk to and was super attentive. We will be back!

Obsessed with this place, great food, super nice, reasonably priced even with inflation, with great portions ! 10/10 for sure ! Recommend the loaded tots with pulled pork and coleslaw, but the quesadilla is also great and the salads are yum aswell !

2023- just wanted to update this review. We moved a few towns over but just recently ordered catering from smokey bandit for a party of 10. Listen. The food was just as fantastic, and it was soooo plentiful! We definitely had leftovers. Next time I have to remember to order the candied Carrots. So don’t forget about this place for your catering needs!
We live within walking distance and occasionally walk past the American Legion and Smokey Bandit BBQ sign. Tonight, my husband said, “let’s eat bbq tonight”, and sent me the number to call in. Called in to order and was immediately greeted by Diane who was in process of putting the sweet potatoes in the oven. I hadn’t even looked at a menu, but Diane was kind enough to walk me through all the delicious entrees for the night, even recommending a sampler. (We did decline on the sampler, though, since we just had chicken last night and didn’t want it again today.) We committed to the bbq rib entree and the pulled pork entree that comes with 2 side each. We of course got the sweet potatoes and collard greens, and mac &cheese, baked beans, cole slaw, and the most delicious corn bread. Everything was so incredibly delicious. I’ve had barbecue in the past 20 years, but this was the finest! The collards, mac and cheese, and pulled pork are all outstanding, and the mac and cheese has that delightful pull that comes from just the right amount of cheese! The chicken and rubs will definitely tempt me to return the following time! Your taste buds will be grateful for the delicious supper!

Ordered a few items to try out and so glad I did. It’s a super small place and off the beaten path. (Not far, just not on the main road) was in the mood to “pig” out….. *dad joke* I got a half rack of ribs, pulled pork, Mac n cheese, and cider glazed carrots. The ribs literally fell off of the bone. There was no meat left behind. It was tender and dare I say it… moist. (Sorry people that hate the word but I don’t want dry meat lol) The carrots were really good and the mac n cheese was extra creamy and delicious. The pulled pork was also awesome. I personally don’t like my stuff drenched in sauce. They gave me just enough bbq sauce and you can also order extra. Everything was fast and my pickup was friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend if in the mood for a local BBQ

This place is the definition of “hole in the wall goodness”! We sat outside on the picnic table to enjoy our meal. We ordered the brisket platter and rib platter. So much food! We were staying in a local hotel so we didn’t take our leftovers but we had plenty. Two people could split a platter. Don’t sleep on the Mac and cheese or glazed carrots guys running the show were awesome. This place is a hidden gem. Dine in consists of sitting inside the VFW [smoking permitted) so we opted for outside. The bonus is a full bar to get your favorite refreshment. Bartender was super nice. Most people apparently get take out or door dash. If ever back here again we will be stopping by.
