I selected one star only because I had to. I would give it 0 stars. First off let’s start with the pros: the waitress was nice and the tables and chairs were cool. Now to the cons: you can’t find the place, there is no sign out front at all. After eating the food maybe they don’t want a sign out front. So the food review now: the brisket was old, dry and chewy. There was no juice coming out at all. Next the cornbread it was cold and doughy. The baked beans, the flavor I cannot knock too much because everyone has their own preference for flavor but to me it tasted like tomato soup and the beans were very hard. The macaroni and cheese I would have rather eaten kraft Mac and cheese. The noodles were just plain elbow macaroni and the bottom of container was covered in a cheese sauce that seemed like it came from a box or can with a little shredded cheese on top. The sweet potato fries were burnt. Do not recommend anything from here. This is not real BBQ. We asked what kind of ribs they served and no one knew for sure but we were told the general consensus was they were baby backs after 3-4 other employees were asked.

The pizza we order was amazing. The area in the back is super clean. The waitress was good. The bathrooms are HORRIBLE! The girls bathroom door didn’t even shut so people sitting could easily see in. The toilets were disgusting. Then the stall doors to the bathrooms also didn’t shut. The floors looked like they have never been cleaned. The sink to wash your hands is also gross. I don’t understand why you would remodel half of the place and leave the bathrooms. One of the worst bathrooms I have been in. Definitely not a female friendly bathroom.

Very good ribs! Brisket almost as good and I’m picky about my brisket 🙂
They were out of a few of the sides I was wanting to try but the sweet potato tots were decent and the bbq beans were pretty good.
The Mrs Chicken was a touch on the dry side but she said that the flavor was very good. I was a bit confused at first on the chicken order, the four piece Chicken Dinner appeared to be two pieces to me. I guess the attached wings count as a piece each :/

From out of town looking for BBQ to eat for dinner. I am writing this review, which I rarely ever do and this is my first negative review, because I don’t want you to make the same mistake I did. Googled restaurants in Fort Dodge and Smokeworx came up with a fairly good reviews, over 4 stars. Well the reviews are very misleading. It was the worse BBQ I have ever ate, and I’ve had BBQ all over the US. The wings were well over cooked to the point they were crunchy. The chicken had the taste of lighter fluid, and the pork did not have much flavor at all. The side items were just as bad. The BBQ baked beans were dried out and just tasted like and overly sweet, smoky, BBQ sauce, the mac and cheese tasted like frozen mac and cheese that had been microwaved, and the corn bread felt like it came straight of the refrigerator or was thawing out from being frozen, the butter was warmer than the corn bread, so I didn’t really try that. This was a $42 meal than in my opinion was “not” worth 42 cents. So if you are from out of town or had never tried the Smokeworx take my advice and go to McDonald’s for dinner, that will be much better, and cheaper, and I’m not a fan of McDonald’s but will eat there in a pinch. The inside of the restaurant was so loud from obnoxious drunk customers, that it would put the worse corner bar in NYC to shame and we decided to take the food back to the hotel. I certainly don’t mind that people let their hair down, relax and have a good time, but this was way beyond that on a Tuesday early evening (about 4:20). Now as I write out this review I feel sick from the taste of lighter fluid. Not going to be a good night.

Smokeworx isn’t even worth 1 star. I was served THE worst most dry brisket and and saltiest ribs I’ve ever had in my life. Granted , I came at 10 PM, but they REHEATED my food. I would have rather been served cold!! We got 2 lbs of brisket and left about 1.5 lbs on the plate, and we were still charged 45 bucks after clearly not liking the meal.

We had the ribs and brisket and pulled pork. Flavor was dull meat wasn’t done as well as other bbq we have had. Husband also had fries and macaroni salad. Fries were blah and we have had better macaroni salad from the store. Only good sides were my bbq beans and the sweet potato fries. Not enough to make us want to try it again.

Highly disappointing.
Ribs were hard and so dried out they were barely chewable.
Pork was cold dry and tastless.
Two razer thin brisket slices were mostly fat but tender.
I’ve tried these guys half a dozen times since they opened at a different location and will not be throwing away any more money here.
Still the greatest BBQ joint in town, till someone opens a real one.

Wasn’t impressed with the food when they were in the old long john silver’s building. Haven’t tried their offerings since they moved to Community Tap. Seriously doubt their “bbq” has gotten any better. Save yourself the time and go to Buford’s. Or drive 45 minutes to Hickory Park.

I love the fact that they smoke their chicken wings. I’m pretty sure all of the sauces were housemade which I really like but I didn’t think the buffalo sauce tasted like a buffalo sauce, nor was it very spicy. Pretty unique take on garlic parmesan sauced wings I like them. I would definitely be back again

We just tried to go eat at this place. Walked in and couldn’t even figure out how to get a table because of how it is laid out. Finally found an employee who told us to sit anywhere. We found an open table and sat, only to have another employee tell us the table was reserved, and pointed to a faded little sign. I asked him where to go, and he started to explain different restaurants. I told him not to bother, we would leave and never be back.
